The food is pretty good for the most part, late night fare, pizza and sub joint. But beware if you're using a card... They place an extra hold over and above the price of your order that can take up to 7 days to drop off. Depending on the total they can hold a a fairly good amount. My total was $74 and change and they charged $86 and change on my card (I tipped cash) . Which brings me to TIPS! They have a tip jar on the counter, but the young girl told me the OWNER TAKES THE TIPS. The hard working cooks and food servers cannot take tips! The owner also keeps any tips left on credit cards. So... Tip your driver CASH! I believe that is illegal. I tdid mention it to her, but they're scared to lose their jobs if they complain. Sad.... Note: I really appreciate the owners reply to my review, my bank assured me it was the merchant that applies the extra hold as they tried to remove the extra charge so that I could make the purchase that evening. But I really don't know...so I'm not going to even try to figure it out. I just know it's not a great idea. If there wasn't enough on the card for the amount charged, it would naturally decline anyway. As far as the tips? A random person didn't tell me, the girl working the counter told me after I put a $10 bill in the jar one particularly hot evening and everyone was working very hard in the kitchen. Being a former food service worker myself, I asked the girl if the kitchen staff got tips too or just the counter and delivery and she said "we can't take tips, the owner keeps them". We then had a short discussion about that, and she allowed me to retrieve my $10 bucks back out of the jar. Soooo I tend to believe her...
Read moreWe are an allergy family, my husband follows a north shore roast beef page. That raves about the sandwiches at this establishment and has been wanting to try it. We decided last night was the night. We called ahead asking if it was safe for food allergic daughter, who is allergic peanuts, treenuts and sesame. All of which are top allergens. We asked specifically about the food she wanted, French fries and mozzarella sticks. They told us they were safe. So we headed in. We ordered roast beef sandwiches, pizza and the fried food and once again stated her allergies and told the food was fine. After paying and sitting down for a few minutes they came over to ask about the allergies again( and thankfully they did) they use sesame oil in there fryer. The food indeed was not safe for our child. I'm glad they realized before we gave her the food but also very disappointed that when asked twice they told us we were fine. Allergies are a big deal and can be life threatening. This could of been a very bad night. They should have known right away that it was not a safe place for us especially with one of her allergens being used in the fryer. They definitely need more awareness with food allergies and they need to be taken more seriously. I will say the roast beef sandwiches were amazing but our experience was ruined when our daughter could no longer eat there.
We are appreciative that they realized before we gave her the food, and gave her some delicious cookies and they were apologetic. But they need to be more aware...
Read moreWent here on a personal recommendation of a friend to try their roast beef sandwiches, to which I've never had Rizzo's. Upon arrival was lucky enough to find a parking spot directly out front on the road even though they still had parking spots left in their parking lot. I entered and a couple was eating inside, I went to the counter to order. I was greeted by a pleasant and polite employee that took my order. I ordered a super with sauce and cheese, a large with mayo and tomatoe, small fry and a large fried mushrooms. The entire order took no time at all. After getting my order to go my wife opened the bag and it literally smelled so good. I tried a fried mushroom first and it was great, what made it awesome was there in house marinara sauce, very flavorful and chunky! The fry's were also very good, it was those double fried battered kind, great tasting. Now,.... Onto the main event, my super roast beef. Oh my, this thing was absolutely Huge, seriously felt like 2 pounds of roast beef in this thing and the sauce was wicked good. My wife's sandwich was equally as good, and for a large the quantity of meat was incredible as well. Definitely the roast beef sandwiches are on par or better than some of the local Massachusetts legendary sandwich shops. BTW, the couple had this massive calzone that looked like 20 pounds. Highly recommend and I'll...
