Y & Y Chinese and Thai Food — Restaurant in Lowell

I decided to try a new place out for lunch and saw Y&Y. I came during lunch hour when it wasn't busy and ordered a combination Pad Thai. The wait was not long at all. In fact, it was quite fast and friendly service. I drove back to work to eat it and my car was just filled with vibrant smells and fresh bean sprouts to which I love! As I opened up the container, I was greeted with popping colors of the ingredients and delighted with the smell now that it was uncovered. The egg that was in the dish was cooked perfectly. The meats were tender, and the noodles was perfectly cooked. The sauce glazed every single strand and ingredient that it marries everything perfectly. Overall, I will be coming back for more and recommend it to everyone seeking good pad Thai. I will be coming back to explore the different dishes they have to offer....

My reason for giving 4 stars is we were unhappy with the appetizers. I thought it was odd that they had a hand written sign telling customers to make sure they had all their food before leaving (isn't that their job?) and I should have heeded it. I paid for dumplings and crab rangoon. We didn't get our dumplings. Unfortunately the crab rangoon seemed to be old and was cold. This was the first time we tried Y & Y, all of the entrees (Shrimp Pad Thai, Tom Yum Shrimp Fried Rice, Chicken Kung Pao) were piping hot and delicious. This food truck deserves more recognition! I keep coming back because they never disappoint, the food is always hot, great portions, always the same quality (even when busy), and well priced! The staff are always friendly and they’re pretty quick on service. It’s definitely authentic flavored compared to places like Panda Express.
