Food is good, staff needs help. We got there just after they opened up again (they were closed due to Covid). They had a brand new staff of what seemed like teenagers who were milling around, not knowing who's doing what.
They were out of pork. I can't handle ANY spice, and they told me they have barbeque sauce for my pork bowl which was VERY spicy (thank goodness I got the sauce on the side). I don't know how it could take over 5 mins to ring up an order, but it did. As I said, all new people, left on their own it seems; they did the best they could. The food looks and tastes fresh, though, and they have some interesting drinks on hand (fig/orange green tea, for ex). Seems like a healthy place to eat. If you know Freshii (Canadian place), this is similar, but with more bowl options.
Update 16Jan21: Thought we'd give it another try.
I am surprised that, still, the employees here don't seem to know what they are doing. The food area, where bowls are prepared, was full of food remnants and spilled sauce. The young lady who helped us didn't know how the food tastes because I asked AGAIN about spice and was told "I don't know if it's spicy." She asked someone else and she also didn't "think it's spicy." Well it was. There were jalapenos in that dish.
I asked for steak in my bowl. I wonder how long that meat was sitting on the cutting board. It was rare and cold.
My husband asked for the corn and our preparer had to scrape it from the pan. It was dry and crusty.
Chop sticks? I never did find out if they have them for the Husband's tuna bowl. The one young lady opened up a cabinet door then shrugged and walked off. The other young lady didn't say anything until I asked, 'Can you find them, or...?' She also shrugged.
This food COULD be very good. But until this place gets its act together this is it for us for a while.
Certainly not worth $29 for two...
Read moreFirst and last time there. I super rarely write reviews. This is my second review and I am the mother of a 30 year old. Went at 6:45 pm tonight on a Thursday, the place was really dead! 4 tables with customers. We ordered the teriyaki chicken with broccoli but they were out of broccoli. We were told we can chose something else. When we said, brussels sprouts for one we told there’s an up sale. When it was my turn I chose sweet potato and was not told it would be more, I did not think to ask, in mind, they were substituting and as a customer , I expected it. We were hungry, we did not think of asking, « how much is the up sale »? I mean, they’re the ones out of one main ingredient. On a $10.65 they charged $2.50 extra for each. Half the sweet potatoes were uncooked and 1/3 of the brussel not edible, they were Dry and hard. I went inside after we were done, and questioned the manager about not an upsell charge, but an overcharge, and was told that those extra ingredients were premium side dish and we got it for half the price. I reminded him that they were the one out of the broccoli. He explained that the broccoli you get less which I don’t know I’ve never been there. He did not offer any discount at the time or partial refund nothing. This was not a good experience, I will never go back there, nor will my daughter. The place reminded me much of the restaurant Cosi, a little place that had the same kind of issues with running out of stuff and quality issues. I must say Cosi’s staff and management was a lot more costumer friendly and if they made a mistake or were out of something, they did not take it out on the customer. Well,...
Read moreI had a horrible experience. The first girl to take my order (who seemed to have a bit of an attitude) walked away to the register without saying anything so I gave my order to another girl. The first bowl was exactly as written on the board, and came out fine. By my bowl was screwed up 3x. It was not difficult; I just needed 2 ingredients removed. I let the pregnant woman behind me at the register go before me while the guy cooking meat reviewed my order. It turns out that they also screwed up her order.
The original girl that I'd placed my order was working the register when the guy at the meat grill was trying to figure out what was happening. The person I was with was more than halfway finished with their bowl (I'd told them to go ahead while waiting for the first rendition of my order was being made) so I had to cancel my order.
I had stood there for at least 10 minutes to have a simple bowl made and pay to wind up with nothing but an attitude when I said to forget my bowl but wanted to buy 2 drinks. And no one even bothered to apologize. I wrote to customer service for their little how are we doing - and never received a response. It sucks since this is the only place where I thought I could easily order with my dietary restrictions. I only needed 2 items omitted. SO frustrating.
Since this review is also asking for info on the place itself... the dining area is good, seats are comfortable, spread out enough - but some tables weren't wiped down, there was soda spilled all over at the machine and there were no forks (another thing attitude girl was crabby about when I...
