Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard — Restaurant in Lower Macungie Township

If I could, I would put no stars. This place has the worst system set up. You should be able to place your order, pay, and receive your order RIGHT AWAY! Instead, you have to wait in another line to pick your order up. With this in place, you're congregating more than 20+ people in one small parking lot. They technically should get shut down for this. On top of all of this, you have workers NOT denying service to people without masks on, NOT wearing ANY gloves while handling your food, and NOT giving out order numbers so it's a mad rush to the window to try and actually hear them call out what order has been made. We visit here often and never have complaints! For sports, gatherings, meetups or just a night with the fam, Rita's is our go-to. I decided to finally leave a review though because of one reason: I can't have sugar.

This season there's been only one 'no sugar added' flavor and it's dragon fruit, which is great! But it does get a little boring with how much we go here. This isn't a complaint, the location and staff are always 5-star. But I really wish more sugar free and NSA options would become normal at...

Rita's is the McDonald's of water ice. But where else will you go?

Artificial, sickly sweet flavors are the norm, whereas old standards like lemon, grapefruit, and so on are absent. Their sugar free flavors are hit or miss. For example the sugar free root beer is just noxious, others are mealy or inconsistently flavored.

Having had really good water ice ( like Rosemary's in Quakertown ) you see Rita's for what it is, a mediocre corporate product for a premium price.
