Reading some of the reviews here makes me so depressed because this place has always treated me so wonderfully.
Best Mapo Tofu in the city, and the staff consistently go the extra mile for me. The way they handle Extra Spicy by using chili flakes instead of whole chili's is PERFECT too. Could be hotter, but I realize people in the area are probably extra sensitive to heat. :x Whole chili's just tend to not add any heat to the sauce, and eating a whole chili breaks up the flavor of the meal unevenly. What they're doing is very smart!
Yeah I kinda wish there wasn't a TV, but it works just fine...so misleading. It's just something to distract you if you decide to wait for your food there. There isn't anywhere to eat inside, and that's OK, it's not intended to be that kind of experience. You're supposed to order, go grocery shopping or whatever, then come back and get your food. The location is prime real estate for this function. Misleading photos of mostly eaten dishes and your spoon at a different location just feel dishonest to me, and is a good chunk of why I was motivated to write...
Read moreFood over priced for such small portions. No customer service skills. House low-mein only consist of couple pieces of finely shredded chicken, pork and beef. Noodles were over cooked. Quality and quantity is not worth it for their prices. They Used to be much better several years ago; and I would travel 1/2hr; but now and in past year that I have experienced, their food really diminished in taste, quality, quantity and definitely customer service. You’re better off ordering from your neighborhood Chinese store. And same your money and time. I order combination plater(house lo mein and pork fried rice $15. Over priced overcooked and...
Read moreLike the majority of the reviewers, I rate five stars. The food has been consistent for many years now. When House of Chen, and Imperial Inn of Chinatown closed, we needed a new place. David's Mai Lai Wah Is a contender, but sometimes, they never answer the phone. Szechuan Express is close by, consistent, and very reasonable when stacked up against the competition. We especially enjoy the Shrimp lo-mein and General T'so Chicken. Later closing hours may be more convenient, but if you plan ahead, it works. Like other reviewers have said, the quality of the take out is hard to beat, and the staff pleasant and...
