Went to Suburban Diner for breakfast (like I've done many times before) and I'm honestly so disappointed in the whole experience. I've never received such horrible service, I've actually never had any issues there until today. Our waitress disappeared for 20-30 minutes after taking our order which is how long we waited for our food. I understand it was busy, but I've never had to wait for food that long there even when it's been just as busy. I also watched multiple people who were seated after us get their food before we did. I spoke to who I believe was the manager and our food was out right after. As expected it was cold. At this point it was around 12:45 so obviously we were hungry and just ate it anyway. The (manager?) came back and asked how it was and I told her it was cold but we've already waited so long so we're just gonna eat it. She then asks if we want it to be heated up after we already expressed we were hungry and waited a while (no thanks, I don't want my food to be reheated in a microwave). Didn't offer to take any money off or anything. Waitress forgot my toast and my bacon was no where near well done like I ordered it. The (manager?) then comes back to apologize again and says it wasn't the waitress' fault, that my fiancé's quesadilla slid off his plate and the cooks had to make another one, basically blaming them. Mind you no one came to tell us or ask if we wanted our food remade in the meantime or brought out to us while we waited for the rest to be re-made. The "re-made" quesadilla was also cold and didn't even come with everything it was supposed to. I guess it wasn't the waitress' fault that she literally didn't check up on us once either. That no one notified us about what was going on. Or that my child and fiancé sat there with empty glasses for the last 15-20 minutes we were there (no one ever came back to check on us or refill the drinks before we left). On top of that we waited a good ten minutes for a box before asking the hostess for one cause our waitress was basically MIA the whole time we were there (we saw her when she took our order and brought us our check and that was it for the whole hour we were there). We never got a discount or anything to make up for the terrible service and lack of communication. The whole experience and the way the situation was handled was literally a joke. Sad to say after years of being a customer there I won't be going back. I'm not one to write reviews, especially not bad ones but it was literally such a horrible experience. Apologies for the novel,...
Read moreBeen here a few times and my overall opinion is that this diner is pretty much average. There’s a lot of older people that come here. The younger crowd is nonexistent. In my opinion, this place needs a makeover the booths are narrow and uncomfortable, and it’s somewhat stuffy inside. A big problem with this establishment is that it’s very old-school, while most modern diners have flatscreen TVs to occupy your mind, as well as to stay in the know, this diner has monitors that display advertisements on them. If anything the inside of this diner is boring and gives a sleepy feel to its patrons !!
The food is average at best while their menu is really large. Their food in general is pretty mediocre at best. This time I had an omelette with home fries. The omelette was tasteless and bland not an ounce of seasoning. The home fries were bland and undercooked, almost like eating a slab of half grilled mashed potatoes. honestly an egg McMuffin from McDonald’s would’ve been better.
The dessert selection is wide But I find that the cakes to be heavy the cake is not airy and the icing is not wedding icing. It’s kind of this what they call in the baking industry cold cream, which is an icing that is sweet, but also very thick and gives an aftertaste . This is not the icing of the 1970s that was made with real sugar and was airy and delicious. This icing is almost like eating cotton.
Overall, this place is pretty average if you like average food that is bland, tasteless without an ounce of seasoning, and you like sitting in narrow booths and like watching people eat then this is the place for you, but when you spend $50 on lunch or dinner, you would expect that the food would be delicious the atmosphere inviting, unfortunately, none of that is...
Read moreSo I came here with my boyfriend who is dominican ( they were so obviously beyond racist! ) The waitress ( Cecilia ) Came to our table with our food and i had ordered home fries well done and eggs, my home fries i did not touch due to the fact there was GRILLED CHICKen hidden under the home fries. First of all they are 2 very different things. Not sure how that got mixed up! weren't well done like i asked either. They treated us poorly. my boyfriend had a second lemonade that he said tasted nothing like the first one! didn't touch it! Then she had the audacity to charged us for 2..!!! .... when he clearly didn't touch it!!!! She was unreal! she said it was weird that the chicken was in there and didn't offer anything to replace it!!!!! i expected her to atleast offer to take something off the bill which In resturant business is a MUST. OR offer me something else besides homefries!!!!!! It was the most unreal experience I ever had going out to eat. The lemonade was the cherry on top. It looked super foggy / unpleasant. Then as We are leaving the boss did not open his mouth to say sorry for the inconveniences after i had told him everything that had happened.. I work at a diner.. Ive worked at more than one. This is unreal business!!!!! Do better!!!! You never know who you're serving!!!!! As we were first beggining to order she also was telling me the salad was 12$ as if it mattered to me... I wanted a side salad. I am pregnant!! I don't care the cost! If she was a good waitress her tip could've been 50$ , Unreal service. This business is a joke! Not to mention I didn't touch the porkroll i asked for well done either, and my boyfriend had 2 bites of his burger. this was...
