My family was SO EXCITED to hear that Braum's was coming to Lubbock! (And we don't even live in in town! 😅) So when we had to go pick up our rambunctious & extremely HUNGRY 4 yr old grandson from school, my husband said, "Hey, why don't we go by that Braum's place and see 'tif it's as good as people say!" WOOHOO!!! And the verdict is...(drum roll, please....) Hamburgers: "Wow - these are GREAT!! Wadn't expectin' that.." Chicken Strips:. Okee dokee! French Fries: lthe perfect blend of Mickey D's flavor & tenderness combined with old-fashioned crinkle cut fries. Yummy!! Gravy:. Superb!! Ice cream/Shakes/Frozen Yogurt: Y'all, they raise their own Braum's cows, to make the milk, to make the cream, to go into the ice cream the Jack built!! (Oops. I meant to say, "Braum's.) During our visit, we noticed that there were customers of every age there - from tee-nincey newborns to the adorable 90+++ couple with white hair seated behind us. Our grandson sincerely believed that this gentleman was Santa. Yes. THE Santa. Going incognito, of course, in a Braum's restaurant in Lubbock, Texas. With the cheery faced Mrs. Clause in tow, of course. (And our little guy scooted behind me, only peeking out to spy if "Santa" was watching him. "Did you eat ever'thang on yer plate, there yet??" 'Santa' questioned him. He immediately settled down to begin cramming chicken strips & french fries into his mouth as he nodded 'Yes' to the spritely old man. It must've worked out all right thi, because Santa fist-bumped our little guy on the way out. A great relief to a Pre-K kiddo, I'm sure.
The one thing that was eminently noticeable to me was how very kind, caring & positive every single member of the staff was. A very welcoming respite in these crazy, uncertain times! Also, in case you don't know, Braum's has an amazing small grocery store inside, offering a good selection of oh-so-good dairy products, fresh, organic produce, jams & jellies, etc. While you're shopping, you might as well pick up one of their trademark blue & pink insulated cooler bags (sorry - Idk the correct term for those! 🙄). I bought ones years ago (like YEARS ago) and it is still just as good as ever! Made good & strong, as my mama says! :)
Okay. Now that I've written a short novel, I will let you go. I do hope you'll give this restaurant a shot. It is very...
Read moreUpdate, 02/28/25. I had been eating at this store probably three or four times a month. I like their burgers (especially for the price) and the option to get a shake at no extra cost with the combo. Service has definitely slipped! Last two times I ate here I ordered a combo that comes with a shake. Both times when my order came out, NO SHAKE! I had to ask some random employee to make the shake, not whomever plopped the food on the counter after my number was called, as that person had already evaporated in the 10 seconds or so it took me to walk to the counter. Employee I did catch acted like he was doing me a favor to pony-up the shake. If I hadn’t asked this guy for the shake I have no reason to think they ever would have produced it, even though it is an integral part of the combo. Also, when I walked up to get my order there were shakes being made, just not mine (even though I got my order in before the people being served before me). By the time I got my shake the fries were cold. Another thing that is off at this particular store is that there never an employee in the little grocery section of the store. If you want anything from there you have to hunt somebody down, as they ignore you otherwise. I’m going to try another Braums in a different location, even though less conveniently located for me. Maybe service is...
Read moreCame here on a Friday evening. Ordered bag of burgers special and a sundae. Waited in line for about 15 minutes before I could even pull up to the pay window and there were only 4 cars ahead of me. Then when I get to pickup window, there's 3 people hovering around the window holding tickets and acting all confused. They give me my sundae and tell me to pull around the side of the building.
I waited another 15 minutes while 6 other vehicles drove by and my sundae is sitting in my car melting. Finally a guy who looks like he's barely out of middle school brings my food out and doesn't even say "sorry about the wait" or anything. Just hands me the bag. They obviously forgot to make the burgers and didn't even start until I got to pickup window, and then when the burgers were done, they sat there waiting for someone to take them out, because it does NOT take 15 minutes to grill 5 junior burgers. They could've been honest with me and told me upfront that they forgot my order, and I would've been okay with it, but instead they just told me to pull around and then they took their sweet time and never even apologized.
TL;DR: Spent 30 minutes at a "fast" food drive-thru for some burgers and a completely melted sundae. Won't be...
