If you’re looking for a place that feels like a hug from your abuelita — but with more salsa options than you knew existed — Mar Y Tierra is the spot. First off, the menudo here isn’t just good — it’s life-changing. The broth is spicy in the best way, like it’s giving you a motivational speech with every spoonful. Tender hominy, perfectly cooked beef, and that slow-burn spice that clears your sinuses and your bad decisions from the night before? 10/10. Now, let’s talk about the barbacoa burrito. I’m convinced they had to call in extra reinforcement to roll it — that thing was stuffed with so much juicy, flavorful barbacoa it felt like eating a small, delicious pillow of happiness. Every bite was a reminder that life is too short to eat small burritos. And the salsa bar… Oh, the salsa bar! It’s like someone asked, “How can we make people even happier?” and the answer was: “More salsa.” Green, red, smoky, spicy, chunky, smooth — if salsa were an Olympic sport, Mar Y Tierra would have a wall full of gold medals. Plot twist: We also tried the pancakes. Let me tell you, they were so warm, fluffy, and perfectly crisp around the edges, I had flashbacks to sitting in my grandma’s kitchen — except here, I didn’t have to do the dishes afterward. They’re the kind of pancakes that make you seriously consider ordering breakfast and lunch at the same time. And I can’t forget the staff — some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. Everyone was so friendly, smiling like they actually wanted you there (which, sadly, is rare these days!). It felt like visiting family, if your family actually liked you and brought you endless drink refills. Final verdict: If you leave Mar Y Tierra hungry or grumpy, that’s a personal problem. Five stars, two thumbs up, and a full, happy heart. Bring your appetite — and maybe a nap schedule for afterward.

Made a spontaneous stop here and glad we did! We got seated as soon as we walked in. Got a plate of chips and salsa right away. The salsa was a green salsa which had chunks of jalapeño, white onion, and looked like green onion. It was good! I love my salsas to have a good kick and this one was addicting. I ordered some tacos and hubs got the caldo de 7 mares. He said it had a good kick to it as well. I got two tacos de tripas which were crispy and done good, two de asada, and one el pastor. All of them were good! Felt bad bc they were already closed and we were still enjoying our food. Only con: Aguas frescas don't get refills.

We ate here for lunch, never been here, so my evaluation was ok to try the food is good the service is very good and they are very attentive, professional and friendly. I had the carne guisada, and my wife had the huevos rancheros. Bathrooms are clean as well as the dining area. The salsa is good but thin and kinda watery. The flour tortillas are fresh, so they have to be eaten pretty quickly. Otherwise, they get hard on the edges. Very good prices for the amount of food you get. It's worth a try, many good choices of food. The rice is ok, the beans are good but the carne guisada is great, so tender.

PEOPLE PLEASE READ THIS . THE MANAGER AT THIS LOCATION IS ABSOULTY RUDE . MY SERVER THE COLUMBIAN YOUNG LADY WAS SO NICE AND NEW TO BEING A WAITRESS. STILL IN TRAINING. I ORDER THE SHRIMP AND FISH SOUP .IT WAS WAY TO SPICY .SO I Immediately TOLD HER .THEY REPLACED IT WITH A WORSE SOUP THAT WAS SO SALTY .WORST SOUP IVE EVER HAD .THE WORSE PART ABOUT IT IS THAT I WAS GONNA PAY FOR 1 AND NOT MAKE A BIG DEAL OUT OF IT . REMEMBER FOLKS YOUR SERVER IS ONLY AS GOOD AS THE KITCHEN MAKES THERE FOOD .SO ONCE I WENT TO PAY ,A STAFF MEMBER FROM THE BACK MADE A RUDE COMMENT, IN SPANISH THINKING I WAS WHITE OR NON SPANISH SPEAKING . "ESE WAY SOLO NO QUERE PAGAR " SO I WENT OFF AND TOLD THEM ALL THE FOOD THEY GAVE ME FROM THE BURNT POTATOES TO THE SOUP WERE AWFUL. THEY WERE GONNA MAKE THE POOR YOUNG LADY PAY FOR MY FOOD .SHE BROKE DOWN INTO TEARS .THE MANAGER SAID THAT OUT LOUD SO IT WOULD Embarrass her . SO I FELT COMPELLED TO DO WHAT WAS RIGHT SO THAT POOR LITTLE GIRL WOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR MY MEAL . THE STAFF IN THE BACK SHOULD REALLY WATCH THERE MOUTHS AND THE MANAGER REALLY NEEDS TO LEARN HOW TO BE A LEADER AND NOT A JERK. YOUNG LADY TAHTS WAS MY SERVER DID GREAT ,AND WOULD BE BETTER OFF AT A PLACE WHERE A MANAGER RESPECTS YOU AND DOESNT HATE ON YOU JUST BECAUSE YOU ARE WAY BETTER LOOKING AND THEN HER AND HARDER WORKER THEN HER . THAT IS WHY I PAID FOR MY Disgusting meal and still tipped her $65. Because I hated the way her manager was treating her so disrespectfully. I will never go Again. And I will make sure that I tell people to never Go there If they are looking for a mexican restaurant in lubbock Worst service ever most disrespectful manager. I have ever in my life seen or...

I WILL NEVER EVER ( AND I DO MEAN EVER) EAT AT THIS SO CALLED "AUTHENTIC MEXICAN FOOD" RESTAURANT AGAIN!! I went to this place to have dinner with my parents and our HORRIBLE experience started the minute that we walked in the door. We walk in and are greeted by the only employee there that was friendly, who told us to go ahead and seat ourselves and she would be right there with our menus.  We said ok and walk into the dining area and see that besides 2 other families that are there eating dinner as well, the restaurant is completely empty and figure that it should be easy to find a place to sit right?  WRONG!!  LITERALLY EVERY TABLE WE SAW WAS COMPLETELY DIRTY EXCEPT FOR THE THAT WE FINALLY FOUND BY THE RESTROOM,!) I turn around, now facing the kitchen area, and see the hostess, the girl that ended up being our server AND a cook just standing behind the counter just chattin it up and shootin the breeze, when at least one of them coulda been clearing off and wiping down the tables. So we place our order, and since i have a corn allergy i always order enchiladas but i ask for them use flour tortillas instead of corn, which i have asked to have done at numerous places, and have never had a problem...UNTIL TODAY!  I tried making that same request here, and the rude and incompetent server we had just flat out told me no that they couldnt do that...I mean how hard would it have been to useva different tortilla.  The food finally comes, and I'll just say it like it is...the food was a joke!  I've had to dinners that tasted WAAAAAAAAY better than what we got served.  The best tasting thing at THIS restauant...
