I really wish I could give a higher review because this place was built upon a good idea that was poorly executed and even moreso poorly maintained. Let me get into details here for why. First off, entry. The bouncers are poorly trained to the point of they rely entirely on a black light to tell them what is real and fake and they don’t even fully know how to read the black light. 2 times already I’ve had my ID held and accused of being fake, I’m not really sure how these guys can be “bouncers” and not know how to read an ID from real or fake. Going into further detail, their bouncers are the least “bouncer” of all of Lubbock but they like to think they’re so cool so they wear their weird red shirts to all the other bars to cause trouble. They like to go to random people and talk tough and then get their whole group of bouncers to jump people. Especially that really short bouncer that likes to try to unsuccessfully flirt with girls, everyone knows him as just “that one guy.” They will mess with customers to instigate fights and then jump him. Unethical and unprofessional. Next, bartenders. They try to sell you Jell-O shots that are awfully made and contain little to no alcohol, it’s a whole sham. The bar sells watered down liquor, which is actually illegal, and they hope these college kids they sell to won’t notice, or they think there’s nothing these kids can do about it. I happen to have a trained eye for these things (also I know some people). Also, never leave your tab open as they will up charge you and ring you up for more things. Always close out or pay with cash. I lost my card one time, asked for the bartender to check the lost and found, the guy didn’t even check and told me he didn’t have it. Another bartender found it in the lost and found right after. I tipped that bartender directly in front of the short obtuse one, just to make a statement about that. How lazy. Now their food can be good, sometimes. I used to like their sweet heat wings. Then the staff and even manager while bragging shared some terrible information with some mutual acquaintances of mine. Everything from staff and managers bragging about participating in sxual activities and intercourse in the back on top of the produce and item that they sell to customers, to drug use and other horrific things. That could easily cross contaminate the foods. I haven’t eaten there since, and never will again. Again, this was built on a good idea, but poorly acted out. I’ve always hated coming here and would only come every now and then when my friends convinced me, these days I flat out just don’t go ever. A lot of the college kids like the lively loud music, but personally I don’t believe it’s worth the trade off of...
Read moreIn the past I’ve had good experiences here. Looking at others reviews I now see where they are coming from. I wouldn’t consider this bar a “sports bar”. Being from Kansas and moving to Lubbock for work I enjoy going out and grabbing lunch and some drinks to watch the Cats play. When coming here today the manager was fine with splitting the screens to show the Tech/ISU game on some TVs and the OU/Texas game on the others. Which is fine in my opinion, but once the OU/Texas game finished the KSU/TCU game was following on the same channel. The manager requested that all TVs show the trailing Texas Tech Raiders on every TV in the bar and refusing to show the KSU game, even though the tech game was at half time. My point is, I spent $60 on food/drinks and intended to spend more if I could have watched the KSU game. I hope the manager at the time is either going to school for management or for a career that doesn’t deal with business. He would rather lose money and show a losing Tech football game than to accommodate all guests enjoying the sports bar atmosphere. I don’t know his name, but if he happens to read this I would suggest to him on following whatever pursuit he is going to school for, change his major if he is in Techs Business school, or learn how to accommodate all guests at his bar. It’s also important that I note that both the waitress and the 2 bouncers that took my request to show the KSU game.
In short, the manager working lunch on 10/10/20 needs a quick lesson on how to manage a bar. I would be more than happy to take a call for him...
Read moreThe exit door who was wearing a red poncho between 9:00-9:30 told me that I could walk outside and take a phone call. I proceeded to walk outside and take my call and when I proceed to ask the gentleman if I could come back inside he said no. I had started a tab and asked if I could at least get my card he told me that I would have to wait in line. I informed him that he should have told me this before I left which he proceeded to tell me that he didn’t have to. This is utter nonsense and makes tn establishment look like a bunch of liars. But it’s all ok though because I’m planning on opening a restaurant soon nearby and will run this place out of business. Their rating is at a 3.1 and is currently frequented by mostly college kids. That’s ok, but I think it’s time that these college alumni’s and kids get the chance to experience something that truly values the ideologies of hospitality and what customer...
