I freaking love this place. Don’t buy a parking sticker for TTU, buy tacos instead! Free all day parking on 9th an 10th street and right in the middle is Torchy’s Tacos!! They open at 7am and start serving drinks when they open. You can get tacos at 7am too. I can’t get up early for class but I can get up early for drinks. Parking starts to look like a rip off when you think in taco currency that’s like 200 tacos a semester for parking!! Think you have tried everything they offer? Then try something off the secret menu: JACK OF CLUBS – Fried egg, potatoes, black beans, crisp corn tortilla strips, shredded cheese, cilantro, sour cream and Diablo. Served on a flour tortilla. ACE OF SPADES- Jalapeno sausage link, grilled brisket, a fried egg, green chile queso, cilantro, cotija cheese, sour cream and Diablo. Served on a flour tortilla. TRAILER PARK HILLBILLY STYLE – Fried chicken, chorizo, chopped bacon, green chiles, green chile queso, shredded cheese, pico de gallo, poblano ranch on the side. Served on a flour tortilla. MAD COW- Fajita beef, black beans, grilled corn, jack cheese, creamy chipotle and cilantro. Served on a flour tortilla. THE HIPSTER- Panko fried tuna, with green chilies, chopped bacon, black bean relish, cotija cheese, avocado sauce, cilantro and a wedge of lime. Served on a flour tortilla. THE MADATOR- Chopped brisket, grilled jalapeno, pickled onions, jack cheese, avocado, sour cream and cilantro. Served with tomatillo sauce on a crisp corn tortilla wrapped in a flour tortilla. GREEN CHILE PORK MISSIONARY STYLE- Green chile pork, pickled onions, guacamole, jack cheese, cilantro, creamy chipotle on a crisp corn tortilla inside of a flour tortilla.

I’m a huge fan of Torchy’s; this was the first time I’ve visited this specific location. I was not impressed, unfortunately. I ordered a margarita when I placed my order at the counter and took a seat at the bar, the bartender was not impressed that I’d already placed my order before sitting down. He gave me a little attitude, made my drink and then ignored me the rest of his shift. A new bartender came out after about 15 mins who was very helpful and friendly, much better service. The corn tortillas were not properly cooked, they were cold and fell apart easily. The margarita was good, and the chips and salsa were great as usual. Gave the place a second chance the next day. Service was better, but same problem with the corn tortillas-very disappointing.

So my food tasted awful, but since I actually consumed the entire taco in a fit mentally disturbed hunger, I figured I'd provide insight. When my food arrived, I noticed my corn tortilla was curling and I had slight difficulty folding my taco. Which. Has never happened before. Upon the first bite of my fried avocado taco, there was a taste of chemical I couldn't quite name. After complaining to my partner "I think somethings wrong with my food", they offered a part of theirs to complete my meal. After not getting any of the taste from my first taco, I realized someone served me bad shells. It was my only meal yesterday. Don't do this. Be good business owners.. and pay your employees... and serve fresh food. Please.

Honestly I used to really love this place a few years ago. We’ve been coming frequently the last 4 years. It was at one point our go-to meal spot. The last few years however, we’ve began noticing a very consistent decline in food quality. Tacos would come out missing ingredients almost every time, we’d order chips and salsa and it would take way too long, and then come out cold and short almost as if we were handed someone else’s leftovers. This was consistent over the course of a number of times. Same story with the queso it came out multiple times so cold it was thick and hard on top. We complained about it before and they just microwaved it for us, which if this were what I was paying for I’d rather do it at home. I’m writing this review after some friends of mine went again and said the same thing, that they think they use leftover and reheated food which is disgusting if true. Really disappointed. I hope this place gets their act because at one point it was a favorite. I was told that their other location here does a significantly better job so I may go try that soon. I would like to try this place again and update my review, but honestly it’s going to be a long while before I even consider coming back. My last couple experiences were absolutely awful. Also, I hate the fact that they make you tip them before getting your food, because the last couple times my food took forever and a few times I’m pretty sure they actually just forgot about me. I tipped 20-25% each time and left...

We were at Torchy’s on Sept 29th at around 3:30pm. We ordered food and 2 drinks, but I only received one cup. My husband paid for the bill and I asked the girl taking the order for the second cup. In a very rude manner she told me she had already given me a cup, so I told her she gave me one, but we were missing the second cup. She started looking at all of us to see where the second cup was “hiding”. I told her again she had given me only one cup, pointing at the one my son was holding. Still not believing me, I asked her if she needed to look in my purse for the missing cup. At this point in time she handed me the second cup and sprinted towards the kitchen. My husband’s immediate reaction was “she is going to do something to the food ! I do not trust her at all”. We have been customers of Torchy’s for years, we have never had an issue. But when the food came out the chips were almost inedible due to the excessive salt on them and my husband did not want to eat the food he ordered afraid of getting ill. I ate half of my order and sure enough was sick that evening. Needless to say, we will not be going back to...
