This was an awful experience. I seen the good reviews, which is what tempted to me to try it. I'm not sure if this was a one time thing, but honestly, I'm not tempted to try it again. First off, our server (Janae) was awful. This is was the worst I've ever tipped, and the first time I've tipped in this way. She took quite a while to greet us, wasn't friendly at all, and then pretty much never checked on us further during the meal. My wife and I both ordered drinks. The drinks came out pathetically low, volume wise. Mine was the "Figment of your imagination", and hers was the "Peach betta have my honey". Mine had a large ice cube in it, but the drink was below the ice cube, not even half a glass. When I received it, my daughter seen my face of disbelief and laughed. I paid $12 for that drink, and $10 for my wife's. We asked for waters as well when we ordered our drinks, and didn't receive them until the end of our meal, when we had to ask for a third time. I requested ranch to come with my food, because I ordered fries, but I did not receive it. Our server came to us when I was about 3/4 through my burger to check on us for the first time, at which time I requested the ranch again, along with the two waters we requested in the beginning. She greeted another table before getting our requests, and needless to say, forgot again. I ordered a side of Mac and cheese, thinking in my head like home style Mac and cheese. This wasn't the case at all. It really appeared to me that they tried to stretch the stock in the back by adding water. The Mac and cheese came out almost like soup, and I'm assuming, that because of the water added, was flavorless. My wife tried it, and said the same. My wife ordered the "Pastrami Mommy". The meat in her sandwich was extremely dry. She immediately did not even want to eat it. She was hungry, and eventually opened the bread and picked the meat out, dipping it in the "mac and cheese soup". The burgers were good. Very messy, but good. Typically, we would have made a complaint for the sandwich in hopes for a replacement, but with the wait, and the experience that we had up to that point, we didn't see the value in it. We wanted to go home, and regretted our decision, thinking we should have just gotten delivery pizza and...
Read moreWhen we first moved here to the Carolinas in Duncan and Spartanburg we discovered cribs and at first they were really good we've been living here for 13 years on the last couple times I have gone to cribs in Duncan/Moore The tiger River one, I used to really like their food and lately it has been horrible. First they got rid of some of the burgers and one of them that was my absolute favorite The Stella Blue It was the best burger ever and it was the closest thing I could find to my blue cheese and bacon burger since chili stop making it now they don't have it anymore so that was a real bummer I also love their sweet potato fries and those are a hit and a miss I just ordered a buffalo chicken wrap today with sweet potato fries I'm always hoping that maybe the cook had a bad day things happen or something so I like to try the same place again because I'd rather eat somewhere like cribs then going to a fast food place sometimes The wrap was okay but it had big pieces of chicken skin that I was pulling out that was disgusting and the fries for the third time have been cold and hard and stale like they weren't even freshly cooked or even a fresh batch I have never been so unhappy with cribs and disappointed because they actually do have some good food but for some reason every time I go to get mine it's always cold taste old or stale like Its been sitting there for a while so after a third time I'm giving up I will never go there ever again and spend the kind of money that you do it was $20 for the wrap the drink and the fries I ate it because I was hungry and had no other choice and I don't like taking food back in fear of them spitting in the new food they made because that's how restaurants are perceived if you complain about your food I would not recommend this place to anyone I will admit however the staff is very friendly and hospitable but the food they need to rethink......or at least how they prepare it because it hasn't been the same since...
Read moreWe started with the “peach better have my honey” cocktail (AMAZING) and a brunch special mimosa. We chose the deviled eggs and brussels sprouts for an appetizer. The deviled eggs were interesting, the chimichurri is not traditional - more like a pesto consistency. It was bright, but I found the eggs to be over cooked and needing salt. The brussels sprouts were better for us - the chili honey sauce was a nice touch and the pecans were a good choice.
We had the pear salad and it was bright. It is definitely a sweet salad but I thought the flavors went well together. The salad mix is very fresh. We also got the “$20 smoked beef sandwich”. The meat was thinly shaved and very flavorful - nicely seasoned and definitely Smokey. The bottom piece of Texas toast was a bit soggy, but nothing too extreme. For sides we had the potato salad, Parmesan fries and sweet potato fries. The sweet potato fries were the best of the 3, they were seasoned and crispy. The potato salad is a total skip. It is an unappetizing pink color and tasted like only raw onion. The potato is well cooked, but the dish needs rethinking. The Parmesan fries wered not crisp, and desperately needed salt. We also had the huckleberry gin cocktail and the Bloody Mary. The Bloody Mary was great - classic and well executed. Our server Addison was great. Everyone was attentive and quick. 10/10 staff!
Overall, I think the kitchen staff needs to be tasting as they go. Things were under seasoned across the board. A touch more salt on every dish will go a long way. The cocktails were great, and the food was inventive - just missed the mark a bit for me.
I think we will be back the next time we visit Spartanburg - it is a really solid option with fun...
