If you're a tourist passing through Lynden, do yourself a favor and avoid this restaurant. It's inside Dutch Village Mall (the plaza itself is cute) but don't be misled, this place serves terribly inauthentic "Thai" food with even worse customer service.
I didn't initially intend on writing a review but I had such an unpleasant dining experience from the beginning till the end. Firstly, the Pad See Ew was overly sweet and sour, tasted more like Pad Thai. As it wasn't fully to my liking, I switched with my husband. The server noticed we had swapped dishes and became so irrationally irritated. She kept hovering over us and making passive aggressive comments about how I'm not eating all of the Pad See Ew. I'm a paying customer who's not causing a disturbance nor giving attitude, why am I not allowed to eat what I want? How ridiculous! I didn't even want to make a big deal out of the Pad See Ew but she wouldn't leave us alone. Such BIZARRE and unwarranted behavior.
While paying, my husband requested for 2 takeout containers as we had leftovers. She insisted on only 1 and was aggravated when she went to grab another. She aggressively handed me the containers and stomped off after. Despite such terrible treatment, we still tipped 15% and yet she never came back to the counter after we signed the bill. No words or appearance as we left the restaurant. Again, rude and bizarre.
Long-winded review but I just wanted to warn others as no one, especially a paying customer, deserves such disrespectful treatment. Completely unacceptable behavior. Save your hard-earned money and...
Read moreAmazing, to die for Thai food! Better than any of the restaurants in nearby Bellingham, this place has the best food and best customer service of any Thai food restaurant I have been to. They are the sweetest people- always pleasant, attentive, and polite to customers; it is honestly such a refreshing experience both ordering in and dining there in the restaurant because most restaurants really no longer go the extra mile to be as wonderful as all of the Chandara house employees. Everything is very clean and well kept and they have an enclosed dining area that is extremely nice and a little bit more secluded (would be great for an event, graduation, family reunion, etc.) as well as an eating area in the front mall area beside a very beautiful and enormous indoor Koi Pond- if you have kids than they will probably want to eat here simply to see the fish! Their red curry is hands down the best that I have ever had- the whole family agrees and it is our favorite item on the menu. If you like curry, I am sure that you will love any of their choices; that being said, the Pad Thai is also delicious and I have never ordered anything here that I did not love. They even bring you a dish with the mixes to make your own chili paste if you want to control the spiciness of your meal; this is free! Must try Chandara House! All around 5-star...
Read moreI rarely wrote review, but this experience was a bit unusual i feel i should share it so you know how to protect yourself. The restaurant has two menus with TWO Prices. BE AWARE before you order!! A chicken satay appetizer with very thin salty chicken slices was charged $11.99. But it says $8.99 on the other menu I read. That is a 30% increase in price! But they did not update the prices on the plastic covered formal menu. Surprised to see the bill.
I walked in, no one greeted me. I took the formal menu, sat down at a table studying the "Wrong" menu for 15 mins, the owner did not say anything, did not bring me the "Right" menu. I was going to leave, just looking for a pm snack, then she said the chicken satay was good, so I ordered.
The plastic covered "wrong" menu were placed on the table closer to where the customer would be standing, the paper "right" menu were sitting on the higher counter away from the customers. The paper menu looked a bit beat up. The price increase probably have been there for a while. ...
