This is not the place to go for take out or pick up orders. For context: I have visited the Dough Zone in Woodinville, Kirkland, Bellevue, and Seattle. Out of those locations, I've ordered pick up from three. So, when they opened one up in Lynnwood, I was excited and knew at some point I would go there for either food for me or someone else in my household.
Well today (Friday the 14th), my sister placed a pick up order. The estimated wait time was 1 hour (not unusual as we have considered a few times ordering pick up but haven't as the wait time is typically 45-60 min. This time we planned ahead so I would be exactly there at the pick up time 8:10-8:15 pm). I got there at 8:13/8:14. I could tell already that this location was not adequately prepared to handle pick up orders. Typically (and I'm comparing to other locations here) there is someone frequently checking in on the front. Multiple servers passed by but they didn't check in. Finally after some waiting, someone stopped and asked if I needed help. I told them I was picking up an order and they checked the counter. I could see them check on 3 boxes that had been sitting there when I arrived. They said they were just waiting on pot stickers and went back to serving tables. Around 8:24, another server stopped by and asked if I needed help. He checked and the pot stickers were still not done. He started speaking to one of the cooks in the kitchen about it and I called my sister to see what she wanted to do, as the other food items had now been sitting on the counter for quite some time & were likely getting cold. The server said they had been sitting for 10 minutes, but considering I was there at 8:13/8:14, saw the boxes stacked already on the counter with no one in the process lf just placing them down, and it was now 8:25 and the pot stickers were still not done, we went ahead with a refund.
Perhaps it was a busy night or they were short staffed, but I have never had the issue at the other Dough Zone locations, when I've had to wait 10+ minutes for one item to be done while the others had been done for a bit of time (and I've placed similar variations of that order). Maybe it is better for dine in. Maybe it was an off night. You're free to make your own judgement but for me this is not going to be a take out...
Read moreMy partner and I visited Dough Zone in Lynnwood to celebrate both of our birthdays. We’ve been to other locations, like Woodinville and Renton, and were excited to try this new one. Unfortunately, while the food was on par with what we’ve had at other locations, the service and the overall dining experience left a lot to be desired.
On our first visit, we understood that the restaurant was newly opened, so we gave it a pass when the service was slow and inattentive. However, our second visit was even more disappointing. The restaurant was busier than the first time, but unfortunately, the service didn’t improve. We waited much longer than we should have to get simple attention from the staff.
One of the issues was with the Xiao Long Bao. At all other Dough Zone locations, they serve the dumplings with a small bowl of freshly ground ginger, but on this visit, we didn’t receive it. After our dumplings arrived, we had to make multiple attempts to get someone’s attention. It took a long time before we could inform the server, and when she acknowledged us, she promised to bring the ginger right away. However, we waited another 10 minutes—watching the server attend to other tables—before I finally had to approach her myself.
Throughout our meal, it felt like the staff was intentionally avoiding eye contact. Even when I made eye contact with a server delivering food to a nearby table and clearly tried to ask for help, they turned their back and walked away. It felt like the team was more focused on quickly turning over tables rather than offering genuine attention to their guests.
Additionally, the noise level in the restaurant was uncomfortably loud, making it very difficult to have a conversation at our table. It seemed like the acoustics in the space amplified the sound, which made the environment feel chaotic. Adding some sound-absorbing materials or features would really help improve the overall atmosphere and make it more pleasant for diners.
Overall, this visit was incredibly disappointing. The food was great, but the service and the noise level need a lot of improvement. Given the experience, we’ll be driving the extra 25 minutes to visit another location rather than...
Read moreBad service. Decent food. Recommend going to another dough zone if you can.
We called in advance as we were reaching at 8:34pm while they close at 9. We were told that kitchen closes at 8:30 and they can't have us. When we said we can order now and will dine in as we knew exactly what we wanted, they took our order, only for us to find that first, they took our order as take out (while telling us clearly that it's dine in) and second, they were hosting people who came in at 8:55 as well. To add to this bad experience to begin with, the person that we had to explain their mistake in taking our order was rude and kept talking over us without accepting their error. Out of 3 people we interacted with, only 1 person who came to collect the check was polite. This branch needs to reconsider their standards of hospitality.
We have eaten hundreds of times in the Seattle dough zone and never had such an experience there.
Food was decent. Did not felt as delicious as Seattle or Kirkland one. Dumplings were soggy and some malformed. Wontons had thicker skin. Dan dan noodles were the highlight as they didn't skimp on the sauce as the Seattle branch usually does. Still the food was relatively better than other dumpling places...
