The male barista working here is the reason I will never return to this cafe. Waited a total of 30 minutes…30 minutes…for the most mediocre “matcha latte” with not an ounce of matcha in it. At one point I went and sat in my car and came back and it was still not being made. Finally after 30 minutes the male barista gets to making my latte and he was well aware that I was waiting for it that whole time. I get the latte, take a sip, all I taste is milk, open the lid and it looks nothing like the matcha latte I’ve ordered here regularly. I go back in to show him the 12 oz of milk he served me and the condescending male barista doesn’t look at it but just says “ok…have a good day” in a tone that made it very clear he did not wish for me to have a good day…no offer to remake it or anything. I left the $7 “matcha latte” on the counter and left. I’ve been a regular customer here, I’m in the service industry and always leave huge tips for them because I appreciate the female baristas here and the matcha latte is usually amazing- they are usually a deep rich green and nothing like a Starbucks overly sweet matcha. After today, this was such a sour experience I will never return here. I’ve come inside here before with a drive thru line and an indoor line with 1 single female barista working and I still didn’t wait anywhere near 30 minutes. Instead today there is 3 baristas but only the male barista is making drinks. He was serving the drive thru line rapidly but could care less that people were standing around waiting for drinks, one man had been in there waiting before I put my order in, so he waited even longer than I did. It was incredibly awkward standing around and especially when the drive line was flying through. I give him 30 minutes of my time and $7 + tip for one drink and he can’t even give my latte more than a minute or offer to make it correctly. So rude and never again will I give them my business.

We dropped by here looking for an independent cafe that had food and did a decent job with tea. We arrived at 4:20pm and still came away happy and satisfied. They carry a good brand of teas (Rishi - not just Tazo or Bigelow); They didn’t have Darjeeling or Assam (would have been worth extra points), so I had English Breakfast. The server kindly asked if I would like a latte for an extra charge, which I accepted. Spouse had a Medici, one of their signature coffees with an orange twist, milk and chocolate, and enjoyed it and wished he had ordered a larger one. The bacon, ham and emmentaler cheese quiche was hot, creamy and awesome. If you don’t see any in the display case, ask for it; she had some in the fridge. We liked the savory croissant and the coffee cake; the savory scone was just ok. On the strength of another reviewer’s recommendation, I tried the vegan berry muffin and liked it! For kid drinks, there is hot chocolate, a cold pink flavored italian soda with whip cream and sprinkles, and (I think?) the equivalent to a chocolate shake. My kiddo had the soda and thought it was pretty good. There was one person running both the counter and drive through, and preparing the food too, and she did it efficiently, cheerfully and in a welcoming fashion. I appreciated that she said what she was putting out on the (very small) outgoing counter as she did it, and made eye contact with us. Also there was free wifi, and local art for sale! The only thing I would change is getting my drinks in mugs so we don’t waste the paper cups, since our order was for here. There was a sticker by the main door stating that this is an LGBTQ-friendly place. Would go there again.

I've been here a few times, and the consistency is lacking. The first espresso I ever drank was here. It was great. The next time I came here to get one it was bad. Not mediocre, it was bad. The next time was decent and how this is my fourth time here it's effectively as good as the first. Simple espresso, with nothing else in it. No hiding, no frills. It was bright, and acidic (I like it that way) with a gentle smokiness. The aroma was pleasant and welcoming. No signs of over extraction. The finish (aftertaste has a negative connotation) is of a medium roast coffee, not burnt or bitter. I just wish they could consistently hit the quality I got this time. Also: the staff seems rushed, and at least half the times I've been here have tried to steer me towards a disposable paper cup. This time she kept asking if I wanted anything else in it, even after the order was paid for. Some folks might appreciate that, but I don't. I won't count it against them, but it's worth mentioning.

Caffe Ladro as a brand has always been one of my favorites, but the Lynnwood store in particular is my go-to, so I'll leave this review here.

Caffe Ladro more broadly: I have a regular coffee order with Ladro going out of state; over the past few months, the deliveries had been arriving later and later, before it just did not arrive at all. When I reached out to Ladro to let them know that the logistics carrier they were using had dropped the ball, they apologized immediately and overnighted some (free) beans using a different carrier, with a handwritten note, even though it was not their fault.

I had not even asked for a replacement bag, I just wanted to give them a heads up that their deliveries were being lost. Even so, they replaced it as fast as was physically possible. Phenomenal service. 10/10.

Lynnwood Location: The baristas are always professional and experts in their craft. On occasion I have received something different than what I ordered, but the drink was still made perfectly for its specifications, and they were more than happy to remake what I had actually wanted.

Keep on keeping on Lynnwood team. Y'all are...
