Absolutely Horrible Experience – Avoid at All Costs
Visited on Saturday evening, June 21st, with a group of seven. What should’ve been a fun dinner turned into one of the most uncomfortable dining experiences we’ve ever had — all thanks to the manager.
First off, this man was incredibly rude and passive-aggressive from the moment we received the order. He spoke in a condescending tone, insulted our group, and acted like basic hospitality was beneath him, calling us "commoners". Ironically, he kept lecturing us about "good service" and "hospitality" — while spit comes out of his mouth and onto the food as he talked over it. Absolutely disgusting.
The restaurant claims to offer “all you can eat,” but the rules make zero sense. A table of two can order 15 items every 15 minutes, and a table of seven people can also only order 15 items total every 15 minutes. That’s not all-you-can-eat — it’s a rip-off. When we politely questioned the logic, the manager became even more arrogant and dismissive.
The atmosphere was tense, not just at our table, but throughout the restaurant. Other customers were visibly uncomfortable and a few even looked ready to walk out after witnessing the way this manager treated us and others. We weren’t being rude or difficult — we were just trying to understand the menu and policies, but were met with hostility at every turn.
The manager’s behavior was so over-the-top that several people in our group wanted to walk out — or worse. His smug, sarcastic attitude has no place in any hospitality setting. He should not be working in customer service, let alone managing a restaurant. We left the restaurant after only 3 pieces of sushi due to his behavior during this altercation.
Avoid this place if you value respectful service, decent food handling, or logical policies. This manager needs to be held accountable — or...

Me and a group of 6+ people came to eat dinner at this restaurant. We were originally excited about a new all-you-can-eat sushi place opening up, but all we were met with were inconveniences and rudeness. We asked the staff about the limit of 15 items that could be ordered every 15 minutes. Because we had a larger group, this felt a bit unfair since the portion sizes of each dish were quite small (Only 2-3 pieces per plate). We asked our server if we could order more items, but we were told that could not happen. The manager was then called over and said our group could be split into 2 different tables, but only after a 45 minute wait with 6 open tables already available..? This did not sound efficient since there is a 90 minute time limit for our group. We then asked if there was any other way to order more food, and the manager basically said the restaurant's system for ordering may be too complex for us 'common folk' to understand.
The way the manager talked to use was incredibly condescending and rude, and the atmosphere in the restaurant was tense, effecting the other customers near our table. After the manager insulted us, we politely asked if we could end our meal and they came back to us saying they have a right to refuse service..? On our way out, the other customers who heard what happened told us they couldn't believe how inconsiderate and inhospitable the manager was and that they wouldn't want to eat at this establishment again.
This restaurant does NOT deserve your well earned money to support such a disrespectful and...
Read moreHaving been a customer at the Sumo in the U District, I had my hopes up for the Lynnwood location. Now granted they just opened up, so they are still trying to get things worked out. There were positives and negatives to my experience there. First the positives. Service was very friendly and they tried really hard to please. The cooked foods were really good. Fried foods were fresh, the meats were well made and the sukyaki was delicious. Fish was fresh and things like sashimi and nigiri were well executed. Now for the bad. Food service was not very good. Some stuff we got right away while other stuff took half an hour or sometimes totally forgotten. As for food, the rolls, especially the handrolls, were horrible. The handrolls at the u district location are great, but at the lynnwood location they were soggy and sloppily made, eating them was torture. If any one has ever bitten into soggy nori they know it becomes like a sheet of rubber and it's hard to bite into them. Also the salmon skin and unagi was mushy and slimy. Unagi and salmon skin is usually prepared broiled or grilled and are supposed to be firm and have a slight char and crunch to them, but here they looked and tasted microwaved and they were cold. Again the u district location does them well but lynnwood needs to refine this. Since the restaurant just opened I'm hoping they will address these issues in the near future. I'll be going back again for one more try but if things don't, improve I guess I'll be driving all the way to...
