Okinawa Steak & Sushi - Austell — Restaurant in Georgia

If I were evaluating the food quality, waitress service, and atmosphere, this would be a five! The food was AMAZING. Our waitress was super attentive. The vibe inside was outstanding.

However... what killed it for me is that I ordered chicken and salmon hibachi, but only chicken was presented on the plate. No worries; I thought that I might have caused confusion with the waitress when I changed my order. As long as I didn't get charged for the salmon, I was good.

And yet, they had chicken and salmon on my ticket. I asked them to correct it based on me not having received the salmon and I was told that they would NOT change it, because "he" (whoever "he" is/was) actually saw salmon on the plate. Really??

Asked to speak to the manager. He told me that their policy is they have to "review the video". So, y'all think I'm lying over $4?? But okay. He came back to the table and said, "With all due respect, the salmon was on there, it just may have been a small piece. But I went ahead and took it off."

So, apparently, I don't know the difference between salmon and chicken visually, texture-wise or from a taste perspective. I ate salmon and just didn't realize it? Really?? He, in effect, called me a liar.

So now, trying to be "cute" and not operating with integrity, they have lost my business forever along with any recommendations I would have ever made. Unreal.

I did tip the server very well, because she was AWESOME.

I absolutely love coming to this restaurant. My wife and I have been here more than 10 times now since we've moved to the area about a year ago. Their food is consistently good and fresh. I am pretty picky, for example, I prefer friend rice without onions, and they are more than happy to make it for me fresh each time. Dining in is always a pleasant experience, because the wait staff is outstanding. If I'm in a rush, the take out is quick and timed accurately. If you are looking for some good Hibachi, in the Austell area, this is without a doubt your best option.

Update: We have continued to come for great Hibachi at least once a month since my last review. Their standards have not changed one bit! They have persisted through Covid and they provide exceptional service through an easy ordering and takeout process. In Mableton, this is one of the few restaurants where I know for a fact that I can place an order, get exactly what I ordered (no need to check!), and have an amazing mean in my own home. Thank you for continually being the best...

Setting aside the prices and the wait, both of which were perfectly reasonable, usually at a place like this, featuring as staples excellent sushi and hibachi options, nothing ever beats the food in terms of overall quality. Make no mistake -- the food here is wonderful. I most definitely recommend their Hibachi bowls!

All of that said, the best thing about Okinawa is actually not their food, but their service. From servers to the chefs to the front of the house, every time I I have been here the staff have consistently been an absolute delight in their homely and personable demeanors. Even last night, when I simply came to pick up food for carryout and did not cross far past the threshold of the restaurant, I was made to feel less like a patron and more like a warmly invited guest.

If ever you're in the Austell area and are looking for that sushi/Hibachi fix, I cannot recommend this place...
