I visited the Kenwood location on 8/20/24. I had heard great things about Truva and was eager to visit. I took my sister to celebrate her birthday. It was our first time visiting. We had a lovely time. The entire restaurant sung happy birthday. Our server was wonderful, the service was great and the food was fantastic. We couldn't wait to return. Why did I give a 1-star review? Well, they overcharged me by $30!! My check came to $50-something. I paid with my debit card. I decided to tip in cash instead of on my card. On the tip line I wrote in "CASH". Wrote in the grand total and signed the slip. I gave a 20% cash tip. I never check my credit card statement but days later I checked it to look up some info unrelated. Upon me looking, I noticed the Truva charge of $80-something had posted. I couldn't believe they overcharged me by $30 and gave themselves a 50% tip! Surely it was an error I assumed could get rectified quickly. Wrong. I called the restaurant, no one understood English. I experienced this the day we dined in as well because I called ahead of time. Days went by, each time I called, no one could help me due to the language barrier. I asked for the manager, they said to call back tomorrow at 4pm. I called back the next day at 5pm, they said the manager still wasn't there. Finally a man tried to give me the email address. I could tell it was the same email as the one on their website so I emailed them at truvacafemed@gmail.com I was ignored completely and never received a response. Even to this day. More days went by, finally I spoke to a nice woman named Ozlem who was able to understand my English. I explained to her what happened. She said she needed to check with my server and call me back. She called me back and apologized for the error. She said "Your server made a mistake, we are so sorry". I politely asked them to put the extra funds charged back on my card. She said they were unable to and the only option was to Zelle it to me. I found this very odd. I have never had this happen at a restaurant let alone not being able to fix it via the same payment method the error happened. So they Zelled me the money back. I was very disappointed in the error, not being able to reach anyone in a timely manner and having my email ignored. At first I thought I was scammed but I eventually did get my money back. Nevertheless, the food and dine-in...

The food was good, but everything else was horrible. My friend has social anxiety, and doesn't do busy restaurants very well. However she was really wanting to try this restaurant and sample Turkish Cuisine. I initially ordered through DoorDash, and the delivery driver just took the food to a random address and marked it delivered. So being the awesome friend I am, since she didn't get the food I reordered it through carryout, and drove 25 minutes down there to pick it up for her.

Upon arriving first off, no place to park. No designated carryout parking and of course as it is a Saturday night in Kenwood, every other parking space was taken. So since my vehicle didn't fit in the parking garage, I parked across Hosbrook road and walked over from there.

Then when I gave the hostess my information, she advised me that they were bagging up my order as we were speaking. They had also marked it prepared on DoorDash over 5 minutes before I even walked in the door. So I stood there and patiently waited.

After waiting for 10 minutes I stepped out to make a phone call, when I came back in the hostess acted like she didn't recognized me and asked for my information again. I provided it, but this time she had a meeting with management that involved them talking and pointing at me from across the restaurant. The manager finally came over and told me that they already fulfilled my order, and asked what I was trying to do.

Eventually, after being made to feel really uncomfortable and unwelcome, and explaining the situation over and over, the hostess finally remarks to the manager, "OH! There are two orders here!"

This is when, finally, they started making the food. 20 minutes or so after I arrived, 45 minutes after placing the order.

I really hardly ever leave reviews, I really am a live and let live kind of person. But come on. The DoorDash delivery driver wasn't their fault, but everything afterwards was. All they had to do was talk to me and treat me like a human being and a paying customer instead of some kind of hobo.

All that being said, I'll say again. Foods good. Service is horrible. I recommend if you order carryout, don't do it through DoorDash and come prepared...

We went from NJ to Cincinnati, OH to visit our friend. We looked online for a Turkish restaurant. We choose this place because it had about 4.8 stars. We visited the restaurant for dinner at 5:35 pm. We reserved a table before our arrival for 5:30. We asked for a baby chair, it arrived in about 15 min. We were able to make our order after 10 min of our arrival. We received appetizers and salad quickly. The waitresses we’re delivering food to other tables, no one stopped at our table to ask if we needed anything else. They only stopped to take away the empty plates. Then there was a time no one was coming to the outside section of the restaurant because there was no one else left other than us. I was about to go in and say “ It's an hour since we placed the order! Where is it? “ then about 60 min later we got the pide, then we were waiting again and we were thinking to tell them we needed to leave because we were planning to go for a walk along a river or a nice trail in Cincinnati, OH before sunset. About an hour and 20 min after from the time we ordered the food we were able to get our main dish. Then we were waiting for our dessert then our tea… it took us exactly 2 hours. We were thinking that we would get everything done in 1 hour 20 min with tea/ dessert included. We we’re about 40 minutes late to our plan.

And be careful for the salad add ons on the menu!!!, we ordered lamb shish ( 14.99 on the menu ) as an add on to aragula salad 14.99) and adana kebab ( 12.99) as an add on to Shepard salad ( 14.99) , but we were charged 26.99 for lamb shish and 24.99 for adana. They said we changed our order from add on to regular??? I asked my friends if we changed the add ons to regular none of us said...

This Turkish restaurant really transported me to the Old World! Some Middle East, Central Asian vibes! From the modern interior design to the incredible hospitality and delicious food, everything about this restaurant felt authentic and truly Turkish. Although the food overall was quite good, I will admit that we made a bit of a misstep by ordering the flatbread, which was a bit ordinary and lacked the special Turkish touch we were hoping for. However, ordering the chef's choice was definitely the right move, and it turned out to be an outstanding choice. One small disappointment was that the Turkish coffee didn't come with any treats, but it was still a wonderful experience, served in an authentic Turkish cup that added to the overall ambiance. And as a nice surprise, they even brought out some fresh bread with a delectable olive oil and herb dip, which was an excellent touch, just like any restaurant in Turkey. Overall, I would recommend this Turkish restaurant to anyone looking for a truly authentic and memorable dining experience. The incredible food, hospitality, and ambiance make it a must-visit spot for anyone in search of the rich and vibrant flavors of Eurasia. Thank you for an unforgettable meal! My choice: 1) Chiefs choice 2) Sutlac - Turkish baked rice pudding , similar to kozy shack 3) Turkish tea, have to try 4) Turk kahvesi - Turkish coffee

Went out for Turkish food this evening in Kenwood. For starters I got the Efe's beer which is a Turkish beer, I'm glad I tried it but I typically like dark beer. He got the truva ladybug which is whiskey, blackberry syrup and lime and was divine! For appetizers we got spinach borek and meat pie. Both are made with phyllo for a flaky pastry and the spinach was wonderful. It had fresh salty mozzarella spinach and spices and the meat pie had the phyllo with ground beef and lamb with spices and served with some kind of marinara sauce. I had the lamb shish kebobs and he had the shepherd casserole and both were very good. I'm a little on the fence with the Bulgar pilaf, spices were excellent just not sure if I like the Bulgar. He had rice with his. For dessert we had caramelized milk pudding which I instantly fell in love with, it was not overly sweet and gently caramelized and topped with cinnamon. I also had Turkish coffee which came in this cute vessel. I wasn't expecting it to be as it was with the grounds but it's traditional and was good. Server was attentive and nice and loved the decor.

I'll start with the positives: The menu here is extensive and has plenty of things I'd be excited to order. It can suit anybody, even if you're not super familiar with Turkish cuisine. The baba was pretty excellent and a solid start. Sultan's favorite was a unique dish that caught my eye, and it was also very excellent -- tender lamb and silky smooth eggplant beneath it with tons of good flavors. Chicken thighs were also super tender and had a great grill flavor and portion. For the negatives: service was mediocre, at best. Our server wasn't very attentive, even though it wasn't very busy when we went there. We did a lot of waiting before ordering any drinks or food, and one thing we ordered was forgotten. Also, one of our medium rare steaks was served medium well -- not even close! I do think the positives outweighed the negatives, so I'd still come back to try more of the menu, but I'd hope for much better service next time.
