I was craving pho on a Monday, and my usual place was not open. So, my boyfriend and I decided to give Quan Ngon another shot. This was our second time ordering from Quan Ngon. We weren't really impressed the first time; however, since the pho broth is decent, we figured it we'd go for it. Picked our order up and when we got home the first thing I noticed was the shrunken portion of chicken fried rice my boyfriend got. We called to ask what happened, and the lady who answered the phone said "I don't know what to tell you. That's the way it comes. " Seriously??? If I had known it was customary to get a 1 cup portion of rice for $9.50, I wouldn't have bothered! I mean, come on!! It's rice!!! Despite all the signage and bragging about "Best..." you should worry more about customer service. If you lose customers, all the bragging in the world won't help you. Never coming here again! I usually go to the pho restaurant across the parking lot (PhoTai), anyway. While PhoTai is not as classy inside, they serve nice sized portions, have great service and extremely delicious food. Do yourself a favor and go...
Read moreMe and my wife visited this restaurant today and we ordered two bowls of pho. We requested no cilantro. Both soups came to our table with cilantro, we mentioned it and the server said no, those are green onions. We reluctantly picked out every piece and attempted to eat the soup anyway. The whole bowl tasted like it. We didn't complain about it, we just took a few bites and left it. We showed the server a coupon from saveon, which is were they advertise. She said she couldn't accept it because we didn't print it. I told her it does not say that the coupon must be printed. She still said she cannot honor it. I kindly asked her to ask the manager and she said no bc she knows they will not take it. I told her that I thought the right thing to do would be to honor it this time and next time I would know it must be printed. She basically thought the situation was humorous. This place needs to educate their employees. Needless to say, we will never return to this establishment. I now know why the place was empty. Beautiful decor, lousy pho (especially with so many competitors nearby), and...
Read moreI read the negative reviews, but decided to give them a try. I ordered the shrimp spring rolls, which should have been labeled fresh rolls, instead, as they were not deep-fried. I also order #25, pho with rare beef, brisket, and oxtails. The oxtail was the best part of the whole meal. Their broth has an oxtail base, which makes it greasy. The broth was also salty as compared to other pho restaurants that I have eaten at. Aside from the heavy salt, it had a good flavor.
The broth of my Pho was really hot. I was excited at first. But the broth is too hot. It made my rare beef tough and my noodles mushy. If they are to keep the broth so hot, everything else should be served on the side. I could not finish my pho, as the noodles were disgustingly slimy a quarter of the way through.
My waitress was inattentive. She was Arabic and spoke very little English. My water sat mostly empty for much of my meal.
I would not come back. I would not recommend them to anyone else. The brisket at Pho Thai is DELICIOUS! Go...
