FOOD: To write this review I thought it would be fair to order a very basic dish. So I ordered the beef noodle and for the appetizer I ordered the dumplings steamed to be exact. The beef noodle soup was a bit plain as I expected nothing too fascinating it comes with flour noodles bok choy and beef broth. I don't find anything special about the soup nor have any distinct flavor to it. However the dumpling was OK but what was really interesting about it was the sauce. The hostess/waitress stated that it tasted unique because it was vinegar mixed with other things. She explained that it's traditional Chinese. So to give this restaurant a fair shake perhaps you're trying to be more traditional and that at Aldie additional things that we've seen in American Chinese cuisine. Nonetheless the food was very mediocre when I recommend friends and families a lot of joy and excitement know but it's deafly a place to just stop and grab a bite to eat during lunch as the prices are very fair.
SERVICE: The waitress and hostess was by far very accommodating as she knew I was going to take pictures and posting a review. She was extremely nice listen and asked how I liked everything and how I was doing. Five star...
Read moreI grew up in the Toronto area and had a great selection of dim sum restaurants there. This place brings back those memories in terms of flavor, atmosphere, tea selection, and plus it's push cart style!
The hargow, siu mei, cha siu bow, braised chicken feet, lor mai gai (lotus leaf wrapped sticky rice with chicken), and tripe all tasted VERY good and is, so far, the BEST flavored in this city. I also really dig the good tea selection, which for OG dim sum-goers, is essential to good dim sum experience.
Recommendations: Go early (I.e right when it opens on weekends, 11am) and youll have first dibs on the piping hot dim sum selection coming off the steam ovens. if you go 45min to 1hr after it opens, expect some wait time for table AND food (which honestly is part of the dim sum experience). Dim sum is a time to sit down with friends and family to catch up over a cup of nice tea...not a really an eat-and-go affair.
Also, if you find you aren't able to get the food you want coming out on the push cart, just let the server know and they might be able to get you something straight from...

They start to get really busy on the weekend from noon to 1:30pm. It's not a big place; the bathrooms are clean. The food was good, not oily (however, certain type of dishes are meant to be oily), not heavily seasoned (you can use the soy sauce & chili oil on the table to adjust the flavor), very generous portion, and the carts go around frequently.
I noticed they also have a physical menu to order family style dishes, but you'd definitely have to ask for it. The servers all speak English, though not fluent, so please be respectful and patient. If you speak mandarin or cantonese, then they definitely can respond alot faster. If you know what you like in dim sum, showing photos definitely help, so they can prepare it for you in the kitchen if they're not on the cart.
I only took a star off because i wished there were more "sweet" options on the pastry cart, the table was kind of sticky, and it would be helpful to include a spoon with...
