Horrible place/staff/owners/management. Visited on a Saturday after the Badger football game. Packed, as always on a game day. I had a close friend visiting from Germany for his first Badger experience. Lucky's was just too damn much, nothing but a mosh pit of drunkenness, so we left...out the back door, which was very nearby. Apparently, we broke some kind of rule because we were immediately accosted by a female staff member who was rude as hell and physically grabbed and pushed us both back toward the door, yelling at us that we had to go out the other way....THROUGH the mosh pit to the front doors. (We were already outside!) Yeah, I took that up with the manager via email and received nothing but more rude b.s. in reply. No apologies, no admission that employees shouldn't be laying hands on me, no clarification on what the hell happened. News flash. . .all doors are exits and if I want to use one to exit, I will use the closest damn door to do so. (I saw no signs telling me I could not exit through that door.) Train your staff MUCH better, do not touch anyone unless they are a threat, and learn how to be "managers" and decent people. My experience...
Read moreIt's a shame to have such a GREAT space (seriously so many huge TVs) be run so poorly. We came around 4 PM and the bar was about 20% full, and yet it still took 5 minutes for a bartender to take our drink order and get us drinks.
The pretzel looked great, but we didn't want to wait forever for our food.
Most frustrating was a crowd of obnoxiously wasted patrons who clearly should have been cut off about an hour beforehand, and who the bartenders did absolutely nothing about (and, in fact, continued to serve). And, no, these were not college students on game day - these were guys in their late 30s/early 40s, and one of them was borderline assaulting a woman who clearly didn't appreciate the attention. We couldn't even hear the game (or each other) over their obnoxious yelling. Look, we're a college town and this is a college sports bar, but sloppy drunk folks who can't hold their booze and are clearly disturbing numerous other patrons need to be removed.
Hopefully Lucky's can turn it around because this really is a great space. We left and walked across the street to Jordan's Big 10 pub where we had a great evening, and, for now, I would suggest you...
Read moreI've been a semi regular here for Wednesday night Trivia (If you get the chance to play, it's a blast). They have daily deals for both food and drink.
Food: On the whole it's pretty average bar food, but they have some interesting dishes. The pretzel and nacho appetizers are HUGE and pretty tasty. I really love pretzel buns and Lucky's are great. Their tater tots have a little crunch to them.
Ambiance: I've never been when it's crazy busy, but there are a ton of tables so you don't need to worry about getting seated. There's a big bar you can sit around too and I know there are regulars that practically call this place home.
Service: Honestly a little confusing. Sometimes when we come a waitress will serve us and sometimes they just don't walk up to our table so we will go order from the bar. In general very helpful. They've forgotten the peanut butter on the sticky burger and to switch the bun to a...
