Marie's Soul Food — Restaurant in Madison

The only concern that I have for them to be a black ow. business and this is the problem when us people of color try our best To support these businesses and almost choking or getting hurt I ordered food from them a couple months ago via DoorDash. I got the fried chicken meal. Tell me why there was a stapler in my chicken. I contacted the store a young lady who sound 18- 25 pick up. I apologize is probably from the bag. It wasn’t from the bag because it’s the staple was inside the chicken coating so I just hope they improve or they are careful how they are handling the food around sharp pointy items, because as a person color, I don’t wanna cut my throat or hurt myself for ordering food ..

I’m kind of nervous to order from them because of the incident I had because why is it a staple embedded in my chicken? And I understand whoever be looking at the reviews, reply and deflect and get emotional, but I just want the individual who read my review. Take accountability and be careful around the orders . We try our best in a white state to support black business. We shouldn’t have to worry about ordering food and cutting our throat or, please check the food before you send it out. Please check the food to make sure there’s no sharp pointy items around the food. Well, I’m going to give my score on this restaurant outside looks very exquisite I like it the food is very pricey with less condiments such as the $15 meal party wings it should be a breast or a thigh or a leg besides party wings. They are actually three wings cut up into six pieces. Should be more chicken to get a bang for your buck the macaroni and cheese make you want to slap your mother don’t do that lol the greens takes me back to my old family tradition From the south the sweet potatoes oh my God on cloud nine on God the overall score I will give it is 8.3. We’re from out of town (Chicago) and up here to get away from the city for the 4th, googled for some grub after we got abit hungry from shopping and Marie’s popped up so gave it a try. My husband and son had fried chicken, greens and yam, my daughter had the ribs with Mac and cheese and yam and I had the baked chicken with Mac and cheese and yam. Listen y’all, Marie’s is the real deal. Her yams and Mac and cheese taste like my mother in law’s (I’m married to a southern back guy :), and I know how to cook soul food myself and Marie’s souls food is your classic staple soul food! My daughter said the ribs were tender and off the bone, my baked chicken thighs were tender and the yams were sweetly enhanced with just the right amount of cinnamon/sugar/butter. Fried chicken was tasty and the corn muffins were good. You can really tell when a biz owner puts their heart and soul into cooking the best they can so that their customers can enjoy a heart meal.
