MOKA — Restaurant in Madison

This was my first visit at this location... I will definitely be back. I love moka and all the best elements are still there. The staff are genuinely nice and personable. The drinks were made quickly and correctly. They also handled a situation with extra challenges smoothly and patiently.

It was incredibly busy. I had a rather complex order of 2 variations of the same drink, 2lbs of coffee beans each ground differently, and a gift card using a promotion.

A lb of ground coffee comes with a free regular coffee; there was a problem when the "at car" person tried to add those after our other orders. Immediately, they figured the best way for me to quickly get my drink in hand and coffee ready to go ASAP. They sent the drink and bean orders ahead so they could be prepared. --- They also asked inside cashier to handle computing the transaction, so that I would get all of the extras and promo benefits.

The person inside was able to ring everything in and apply different promotions. My total bill was also lower than originally projected. --I got one of our drinks free. I got an extra $5 gift card --I had a minimal amount of extra wait time --During that wait, I had my coffee to drink and I didn't have to sit with the window open getting cold.

Rude manager!!! We joined a drive thru line behind 8 cars. Three young adult daughters who had walked to MOKA and arrived there 5 minutes BEFORE us gave us their orders while we were in line. They then waited at a picnic table outside MOKA After waiting 5+ minutes to order and another 3-4 minutes for the pickup ahead of us to clear, there already was some confusion with our order at the window. Then my daughter walked up, who I mistakenly had asked to meet us at the pick up window, which confused window people more. I REPEATED our 4 items at the window several times but could see workers moving around drinks inside to get orders correct. After finally getting their drinks and sitting at the picnic table ( I had walked away) my daughters were CHASTISED BY THE MANAGER for “budding in line”, putting non recyclables in a (unmarked) recyclable waste can, and for standing near the pick up window. Again, thinking it would be helpful for my daughter to come to the window was my mistake, but order confusion and a RUDE...

Showed up at 3:55pm to this location to get my coffee and the lady came to the window stating they were already closed! I did check the hours in advance and realized I was cutting it close but knew I'd make it before 4pm (which are the stated hours on Google). I confirmed with Dominique by asking "what time do you close??" To which she replied "I close my doors at 3:55pm". This is terrible customer service - you should never turn away a customer, especially when they arrive during open hours. We drove over to the East Washington location and were blessed to interact with Stacey who took good care of us (Stacey is our favorite!).
