Papagalino's Cafe — Restaurant in Maine Township

Another disappointing experience at Papagino… This was my second time at this place… and my last. The first time I remember the service was bad. New server with little or no training, overstretched on the number of tables she was serving, and her English was so minimal that she had a hard time understanding what we said. This time the server was even worse. There were 7 of us at the table. For whatever reason my plate never arrived and the server was nowhere to be found. We asked another server for help, she went and got our server back. When she came back she brought me “a plate”. I ordered a chicken panini and instead I got a Shrimp wrap… My drink, which I ordered before the meal, was still nowhere to be found. I got it another 10 minutes later. So I ended up eating last when everybody else at the table was done. The lady apologized about ten times for the problems (there were other issues with some of the other meals at the table) but honestly, two out of two is no coincidence. Some of the folks at the table said this place is good for coffee and cake, like a late night snack where they do not need to do much. But for a real meal do yourself a favor and choose some other place. I gave this place a 2-star just because the folks at the table did get their food and nobody said it was super bad… but make no mistake… Never again… Enjoy the photo of my “chicken panini” Also, FYI parking is non existent. Poor Customer Service and Racist

Today I called ahead to ask about a custom cake order for a birthday and the guy on the phone was rude, cutting me off and saying he wasn't sure if they could do it by the date I needed it. He said I needed to bring a picture of the design in to see if they could do it. When I arrived I was greeted by a woman at the counter and she asked me if I needed help, I told her I was trying to place a cake order. I purchased a couple of sweets while I waited for the cake order guy to come to the counter. I then asked her where did he go? She said, "oh he went to the back when you walked in." I was fine with that and thought he would come to the front shortly, so I patiently waited. After about 5 minutes of standing there I saw several servers walk pass the counter to get sweets for dining customers, none of them said a word to me or asked if I've been helped. I asked the lady again if he was coming out, she peeked in the back and briefly walked away, I guess to look for the "cake order guy". Then she said nothing else to me after that. After about 5-10 more minutes of waiting I left. I guess this is how business is ran. I strongly feel that I was treated this way because of my race. We are in 2023 and this how we still treat people of color?? I was a customer for over 6 yrs coming here to get birthday cakes made. Anywho, I'll simply take my business elsewhere, it is what it is. Not worth it. I ordered the pork skewer platter. The server, Sasha, was not particularly friendly which is fine, that’s not a requirement these days. The food was not particularly good. I only liked the pork which is why I gave two stars instead of one. The French fries were fried in the same oil as loukoumades so they were inedible. Pita was basic chewy store bought nothing special and tomatoes kind of beige pink and tough.

I went to the bakery after to take some things to go for my dad. Nougatino cake tasted like it had been in the fridge a long time (that weird combined flavor of everything in the fridge but still bland I can’t explain) except for in the center, that part tasted fine. Ekmek kataifi was just syrupy and dense kataifi with a thin layer of cheap fake whipped cream on top - not even a layer of custard on top like it’s supposed to have. Milfeuille was very dry, powdery and old. None of the desserts or food seemed to be made with love and care - two basic ingredients.
