There are so many great Mediterranean restaurants here in Orlando, however we were so lucky to come here! I was in the mood for some roasted chicken, so this place popped out just by the name itself.
First of all, prices are insanely reasonable. For $10-12 you can get a huge meal to fill you up! Do note that prices are temporarily up by 10%, and this is a separate charge you see on your receipt.
Now the quality is just as insane. I got a half roasted chicken with potatoes and pasta salad.
The pasta salad was perfect, it had the right amount of that 1000 island dressing. It was subtle enough to not overpower the dish, and paired with perfectly cooked pasta, it was fantastic. The roasted potatoes were also really good. I thoroughly enjoyed the light, mildly seasoned chunks of potatoes, allowing for the chicken to shine.
Now the chicken. Oh my goodness. This was beautifully roasted. The chicken had a nice, slightly crispy and majorly flavorful skin that covered the juiciest chicken I’ve ever had. There was so much flavor infused throughout the meat, and it literally would fall apart on its own as I was eating it.
Overall this restaurant blew us away and I would come back again in...
Read moreWhen I think of Greek cuisine, I always think of gyros. I was introduced to them when I worked in Arlington VA and have been a fan every since. In the Orlando area, I've tasted quite a few but I could only give them a C at best. Myself and my wife were out and about today. As usual the conversation drifts to food because that's are things. I was going to Firehouse Subs to get a sandwich when Athena's caught my eye. We entered the restaurant and it has a cozy mom and pop vibe. We ordered both a classic gyro and a chicken gyro. I tried my luck and ordered a potato salad for a side. We received the orders quickly. My sandwich was well prepared. Full of vegetables, meat and well seasoned. Mine was expertly prepared and reflected the taste of the culture it originated. My wife had the chicken and enjoyed it's taste but remarked that it was a little overcooked. Now for the downside. The potato salad was just meh. This is not actually a knock because I have never liked potato salad made in a restaurant. They haven't figured out that southern potato salad requires more than just mayonnaise. I enjoyed the gyro so much that until some other restaurant comes along,...
Read moreI've lived in Maitland for almost 30 years and this place has good food. However, the customer service lately is terrible. Just a couple of minutes a go i walked in to a completely empty restaurant. I stopped by the hot food to look at what was available. There's 2 employees and the looked at me and I said hello, but no answer, instead they moved around, so I went to the register to order my food. On my way to the register, I spotted a 3rd employee. I waited for a few minutes an no one made an attempt to acknowledge me. I waited some more time and nothing. Then I looked by the hot food and the male employee made eye contact so I turned again to the register and waited some more but no one ever came or acknowledge me. After which time, I just walkout. As I was walking out all 3 employes looked at me but never said anything. Did I mention that the restaurant was completely empty? Yes it was so before writing this review I checked the closing time thinking that they may close at 6 pm and it was 5:45 pm. I too don't like when people come into a place right before closing but they...
