Fort Maitland Park — Attraction in Maitland

Loved, loved, loved paddleboarding these chain of lakes with their beautiful venetian canals that connect each lake. Also so fun to see all the amazing homes along the shore! Super peaceful and absolutely stunningly beautiful. So glad we drove inland from Ormond/Daytona beach one day to do this. Dinky dock is where all the websites tell you to psrk but it has very little parking so try Fort Matiland park if it's full. So much more parking and a good bathroom there. We paddled from Fort Maitland to Dinky Dock and had planned to paddle back but in the end it was just as easy to deflate our boards and uber back to the car. Busy Boat ramp and old one person bathroom. You drive in and loop around near the ramp, drop your boat and pull up a hill to the angled parking. Pretty busy with boats, jet ski's launching on a weekend. very small dock. Gives access to the winter park chain of lakes through very very narrow canals. Busy lake. We went for a moonlight kayak which was great as most of the party boats were gone and only a few fishing boats left. The winter park boat tours also stop at 5 pm. Great views of all the lovely homes. Also a little island you can dock off onto which has a swing and i have heard some people camp out in. Clean and 5 canals that you can travel to. Every time i have been there has been a police officer on duty as well. Be careful with the wp scenic boat tout when enterring those narrow...
