Cow & Cheese in Maitland is a must visit šØ From the man who brought us Chicken Fire (Kwame B.) The burgers are simple yet full of flavor and crafted to perfection. I got the Doc and would highly recommend you do the same if you love caramelized as much as I do (A LOT)
Also tried a single with pickles, I didnāt think this would be enough to fill me up, hence the 2nd burger and order of fries, but it was surprisingly filling. The toasted brioche bun is doing WORK here. If you are familiar with Chicken Fireās crinkle cuts, these are the same sans the seasoning. Hot and crispy and a nice sidekick to the burger. I enjoyed them with a side of the CC sauce (also on the burgers) which was nice.
Sadly they were out of the Beer cheese dipping sauce on my visit (it was far more popular than they had anticipated it being,) but Iāll use that as an excuse to go visit again soon.
Apart from the food itself, I loved the vibe of the dining room: good music playing, colorful art everywhere. The open concept kitchen where you can see the good work being done while you make your way to order was very nice. I overheard one of the employees tell a customer who asked how to leave a tip that they do not accept tips at the restaurant but assured her that they were compensated very well. Definitely something I wish more restaurants would do! It seems like they invest in their ingredients, methods and workforce which all seem to be working as it was packed Sunday night.
I thought everything was very well priced and I always love when a spot has a small menu of excellently executed dishes/food items. I will be back, probably with some friends...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI consider myself a pretty decent smash burger maker, but Cow & Cheese just humbled me. The crispy edges on the patties were so perfect they almost looked AI-generated, yet somehow, the inside was still juicy. I have questions. Dark magic? Secret burger elves? Either way, Iām not mad at it.
Pro tip: The online menu is just a teaser. You can customize! I went for a double patty with grilled onions and bacon jam, while my wife got a single with the Kardashian sauce on the side. Okay, fine, it's called "comeback sauce," but letās be realāparks & rec outtakes gave changed me into a bad person.
The place itself? Not fancy. Nestled in a corner with an industrial vibe, they clearly spent tens of dollars on dĆ©cor. But thatās fineāthis isnāt a place for mood lighting and linen napkins. This is a burger temple.
Getting there was an adventure. Google Maps thought I wanted to visit Walgreens, so I had to navigate a parking lot obstacle course. Ordering is via kiosk, and while the staff was super patient with first-timers, the decision-making process did slow things down. Thankfully, the menu isnāt complicated: burgers, fries, or burgers & fries. Simple. Genius.
The fries? Perfectly cooked. I added beer cheese because I'm here for a good time, not a long time.
I "tried" to take my meal home, but the burger had other plans. One bite led to another, and before I knew it, half of it was gone⦠or on my shirt. No regrets.
Final verdict: If youāre in the area, go. And when I return, Iāll be ordering another bacon-jammed, Kardashian-sauced, double-patty masterpiece....

Cow & Cheese is a must-visit for burger lovers! Their menu keeps it simple with only smash burgers and fries, and they've mastered the art. The burgers are a perfect blend of crispy and juicy, getting the meat candy just right, while the fries are golden and fluffy. The commitment to quality is evident, and the friendly staff enhances the laid-back atmosphere.
Value, value, value. I have no idea how this place can serve such a good burger at such a great value. This burger is double the quality of 5 guys and half the price. The single is 5.00 and double 6.00 (at the time of this review). Meanwhile Iāve paid over 15.00 for a smash burger of similar size and quality, but not nearly as tasty or well cooked.
The burgers are very simple, just meat, cheese, sauce and bread. Anything else you want to add to it is extra. So youāre not paying for items you donāt want.
I love the self service kiosk as it allows you to quickly go in and order, but if help is needed an employee is standing there, this gives you them the opportunity to help people who need it whilst letting the line move if you donāt.
Pro tip, order a double. A smash burger should never be a single, so start at a double and if youāre hungry, order a triple. If you order a single, Iām sure youāll be left wanting more.
If you crave top-notch smash burgers, Cow & Cheese is the spot ā no frills, just fantastic food! Highly...
