Bam Bam Chicken Cafe — Restaurant in Malden

My wife and I tried them this weekend because we figured that the couple of soft launches they had prior would be a mess, since they probably needed to work out the kinks. That said, the front-of-house staff is some of the worst I’ve ever seen. We ordered the deluxe chicken sandwich (they had a buy one get one deal for their grand opening), and while the chicken wasn’t crispy at all, the taste of the sandwich was actually good (moist chicken, flavorful coleslaw, nice bun, etc). That’s why it gets 2 stars. However, I witnessed a gentleman come in after us and order the two-piece chicken meal and another couple after him order an 8-piece, and instead of fulfilling their orders, they made them wait in the queue, even though the chicken for those orders was in the warming case ready to go. Also, we waited for over 20 minutes for our order which included the two sandwiches and two “smoothies,” which they claim on the menu are made with ice cream but are not. After we saw them make the drinks with a milk that is kept out on a counter (read: not refrigerated), and use a TON of ice instead of using ice cream, we questioned them on why there was no ice cream. We were told that it is made with “vanilla milk,” which is “like ice cream.” You could only imagine what the consistency of that was - yuck! One sip and it was in the trash! No apology from them either or offer for refund - they said it is what it is - shameful. Another family was there waiting for their order for over 25 minutes and had to keep asking for the status, even though they were visibly distraught - of course no apology. The staff was standing around most of the time waiting for the back of house to bring things out, instead of fulfilling the orders that were available like chicken piece meals and French fries. And when the orders came out, everyone was crowding the counter to see if it was theirs because the gentleman calling out the orders was so quiet and couldn’t answer simple questions. If the chicken sandwich were the best around we’d probably try it again, but with front of house staff that bad I won’t go back until they get some new help or at least someone that vaguely...

Jan2023 update: it is still bad. Unless you live right at malden center and are desperate for fried chicken. Avoid this place.

This place doesn't deserve 4 stars in its current state. Many of my local friends were very hyped for this place for months. This place is not ready yet imo. Considering it's still under the soft-opening stage I'll let this slide.

The good: The dining area is way cleaner than an average fast food place. Very friendly staff. There was a staff member at the gate explaining the available items from the menu. Good vibe. It might be a good place to enjoy a casual after-school treat with close friends.

Things to improve on: Chicken was average. I ordered chicken popcorn with Fries. The chicken was tender but under-seasoned. The breading was very heavy. The "chicken popcorn" could be called "chicken finger" based on its shape. IMO the chicken was actually worse than other major national fast food franchises. The food won't justify me visiting other than to support local business. Fries became soggy very fast. Consider double frying your fries? The menu flipped too fast. The TVs were placed right below the lights. It was hard to see clearly. there was no "anchor" item on the list. "If you want to sell everything you sell nothing". Very slow kitchen. It took 20 min during a non-peak hour for my simple order. Not gonna make a profit with this efficiency. This indicates under-trained kitchen staff. The floor finish was interesting. It would become slippery and a sliding hazard during rainy/snowy days. No takeout interface yet.

Some of these items can be improved on. This place has potential. Will visit...

Hello! I’m Usually Not a Person to write/Blog!! But Lately BAM BAM Chicken going on its changes, but change could be Good or Bad!! In my point of view it hadn’t changed much, Needed improvement Customer service and Food Quality and Quantity, Management as well. I even mentioned meeting the Boss given updates and pointers!! Listen or Not it’s no my Business, but it good advice for any reference/ suggestions! Right!! Plus Not to long ago, I ordered from the BAMBAM Chicken Restaurants! I wanted a customer service but, just get a response to used the Kiosk, That’s what I did!! Then I, asked if I can select Piece form 20 pc party Comb : I only receive mostly Wing’s and no Drum sticks, Why!? I’ve taken a photo, you can see and counted how many I received!! Plus I also ordered your Curry Chicken Rice plate to Try because it’s Newly Posted: instead of the Brown Curry Sauce with onions and carrots and potatoes!! It’s a False Advertisement/ even on the Kiosk Menu too. It’s Just Dark Yellow Curry Powered Sauce; On the Plate I ordered that had little sauce- Luckily, I asked for a sauce for the chicken combo come with one curry sauce. I just put in to finish plate, instead of what it should be in the plate, it was served with slaw cabbage mixer. It’s totally wrong could of set on as side dish!? Also photo if needed proof! Can someone one help, I did called a your manger or Boss was not available, No customer service/support, Just Hung Up at the End of Line. Very Disappointed!! Hopefully someone can Make...
