Pearl Street Station Restaurant — Restaurant in Malden

This is another new place I was invited to their food was really good their manager Paul is awesome and their servers are really nice! They've got a pretty good song list and both karaoke hosts are nice, but the thing I find a little different is neither one of them really engaged in much crowd conversation or participation over the mics! Which was really strange to me? Because I've been around karaoke hosts who are extremely engaging with the crowd! An example of this is Michael who is karaoke host of the White Bull in faneuil Hall on Union Street in Boston and not only you see very entertaining extremely talented singer and very friendly and outgoing their food is awesome and their managers and their servers are very nice as well I always get a great reception by Michael and the managers and the servers everytime I'm there! They make you feel like family kind of like the Hong Kong in faneuil Hall as well they also have that family type atmosphere in the food is great! Hong Kong sound system is not as good as anybody else's but I love their company and I love their food and I'd love to karaoke hosts I know them all as well! That's the only thing I didn't like about Pearl Street it felt like they're up there doing their thing doing karaoke songs but not too much engaging with the crowd! Considering I've tempoarily moved here from Montréal, when I'm looking for a local, I'm not expecting a culinary journey in Malden, Massachusetts, however I didn't anticipate being so appalled: Except for the animated patrons, I would not recommend this place, not for eating. We did enjoy the entertainment. Anyone can make mistakes, it's how you recover or not that matters. We had an unsavoury experience. The wait staff seem to work like a tag team, which could improve service if they communicated better with eachother. When the customer (like myself) verbalizes a complaint, it's unhelpful for a server to get defensive, much less to sit with us at the table and compete with the Karaoke by speaking loudly (and moistly) over the food and drinks that we're trying to consume. Check the video footage after the waitress spilt while serving us, you'll see no manager ever came over, despite us complaining twice last evening. As we exited to the parking lot, we decided to critique when we observed through the screen door to the kitchen, that a chef (I guess) in her apron was picking her nose in clear view of staff on break outside. Ordered mac & cheese with Buffalo chicken. Price on menu was $10.95 for lunch portion, plus $4 for protein. Bill for food was $16.95 (I ordered water to drink). Asked server about it, she said they JUST upped their prices but didn't change menu. She didn't mention this upon coming to our table and it took a long time for her to come back to check on us. The food was terrible - despite the cheese sauce appearing to be cheesy & creamy, you actually couldn't taste ANYTHING but jalapeño peppers! The dish was only to have red & green peppers, along with onion & bacon. I don't recall any bacon in the dish. It was soooooo spicy, almost like they dumped jalapeño juice in the meal. I took 2 bites & that was it... which makes the amount difference on the bill even worse. It's $2 BUT when you're overcharged on advertised price for food that you didn't even eat, it's all the more terrible. Wouldn't recommend this place at all. Server didn't attempt to resolve the issue in any way, she truly seemed to not care. Lesson learned, won't...
