Hunan Cafe — Restaurant in Manassas

The people are very nice and have better phone etiquette than a lot of the other places around here ("Chinese food, what you like"?!). We ordered carryout for pickup, beef and broccoli, sweet and sour chicken, BBQ ribs and beef lo mein. I must say the BBQ ribs are the best I've had from a Chinese restaurant, meaty and tasty sauce. The lo mein was really good. Not greasy, not spaghetti noodles and they do use fresh veggies. Sweet and sour chicken was no different than any other place. The beef and broccoli was ok. Could have been better if the broccoli was cooked a little longer. It actually was better as the next day microwaved left overs. Overall, we didn't get the msg crappy aftertaste from anything and seemed to be healthier choice for your basic Chinese food...

I bought food here years ago and didn’t like it. Today I gave them a second chance and got the same feeling. The combination noodles were dry, they tasted like over cooked oil, the sauce had a very dark burned color and was sticky instead of being saucy and fresh. The meat content was low and they served smaller portions compared to other restaurants. You do not get a side of white rice with your order like other places do. The lady that took my order was on the phone with someone else at the same time and had my order wrong. I had to repeat a couple of times just to make sure and still got the order mixed when I got home. I don’t recommend this place. Good location is not enough. Food is always good and last ordered food on 5/12/2021. Disappointed in the recent visit to Hunan Cafe because the order was less than $5 (soup) and I didn't have cash. The lady that's always behind the counter ALMOST refused to accept my CREDIT CARD payment due to her not wanting to be charged 65 cents for charges less than $5 on her credit card machine. I almost left the food there and walked out because of her hesitation. My family are frequent customers to this establishment and as much money HUNAN CAFE has made off of us plus other families in the community, to worry about being charged 65 cents for one purchase on their credit card machine is OUTRAGEOUS!
