Went out for karaoke night. Karaoke was fun. Started a tab. I ordered nothing but beer and was charged for 3 shots of Jameson in addition to the beer. I brought it up to the staff and they said I ordered the drinks for myself and my friends. I went in alone… The bartender, Tiffany I think, said she would review the tapes and if I ordered the beverages, they would call the cops and have me banned. I said, “okay, let’s review the tapes.” She hopped on her phone while her and the other bartender, Mike, gave me a sh*tty attitude while threatening to review the tapes and call the cops. While waiting to review tapes, I got called up for karaoke, so I sang a song and went back to the bar to ask to review the tapes and finish closing out at the appropriate amount. They yelled at me to get out, so I went outside muttering to myself, “okay, let’s call the cops and review the tapes.” I had a feeling they wouldn’t call, so I called the cops on them. I spoke with officer Coulter on the phone and asked for an officer to come on site so I could report my claim. I spoke with Officer Larado in person. Both Coulter and Larado were polite officers. I explained my case and…no tapes were reviewed. Officer on site thought I was reasonable and sober. No arrests, no cuffs, no arguments. Wish I could share the body cam footage. Just calm, collected conversation. But ultimately, I was charged for the 3 Jamesons, and got banned. Owner signed off on the formal ban paperwork while I stood there, coherent and polite. Don’t care much about the ban. I would certainly not go back after being robbed. The police said it wasn’t really worth anyone’s time to review 3 hours of footage and determine if I was overcharged by $30. I agreed. I called because it was more about the principle. Wanted to get some kind of paper trail and interactions taped. I know my phone call to the dept and my interactions with the officers will be saved. I called because who do you call when a bar shakes you down for $30? I shook hands with the officer, said goodnight , and received a formal ban from the premises in writing. Couldn’t file a complaint against them.
I spoke with the officer for a few minutes after the incident and he suggested I call Va ABC or the business bureau to have things sorted but who tf is gonna act on $30 lost? I’ll reach out to see. This is worth a few hours of calls and emails to get back at people who rob me.
I thought it was pretty crazy because I’ve been here several times in the last few months. Not enough to be considered a regular but regularly enough to where Mike knew the beer I usually drink. I always paid, always tipped, never argued or caused problems but tonight I guess none of my repeat business mattered. I obviously wasn’t very impaired, this review is being posted about 60-75 minutes after the incident. Just needed time to get home and get to typing
And I was a bartender for over 6 years. I’d like to think I understand bars and what’s appropriate behavior. I don’t believe I acted inappropriately in that establishment in any way in any of my visits. I just feel like I got robbed.
I’m filing an incident with my CC company, and I will be following up on this extensively with any appropriate agency. $30 is worth $30 but getting back at thieves is priceless.
TLDR; Got shaken down by a bar. Filing complaints with any VA organization that’ll listen. Not down with the brigand behavior
PT is cool to go to, just make sure you close out every single time you order or you might end up paying for someone else’s drinks and get a ban if you don’t wanna pay for drinks you neither ordered...
Read moreCame here with my boyfriend after working at the farmers market. We drove by and saw “Philadelphia” and got excited because we love phillys and the wanted to try it out. We love giving business to the local restaurants. This was today, December 18th, 2021.
We went inside and after standing there for a couple minutes, a lady who was sitting down with some guests, chilling, told us to take a seat anywhere. So we picked the only table, which still had cups from the previous people sitting there. They cleaned that up and we sat down.
I dont Know who out waitress was, I don’t remember her name, but she had glasses and was blonde. She came off kind of annoyed when I asked Where the bathroom was, but I didnt I’m think much of it. I came back and eventually she gave us a menu and asked us what we want to drink. We gave her our drink ordered and appetizer order, and that came out quickly. The pretzels were nice and soft, but that white sauce is gross and doesn’t really fit with the mustard or cheese, but that’s just my opinion. The pretzels were delicious tho.
I wanted To put in our entree order, but the girl who ran the food apparently can’t take orders so she interrupted me and told Us she’d send us our server.
I was Like okay, thinking our waitress was going to come back around any moment but that wasn’t the case at all. We waited 30 MINUTES for her to come take our order. 30 MINUTES. Meanwhile other customers were coming in, she was helping them, taking their orders, and I probably Made eye contact with her like 5 times before she eventually came to our table.
I was So upset that I decided Not to get our entrees, and we just paid and left.
I dont Know what the problem was, but we were the only customers in the restaurant that weren’t white, and Im not saying that had anything to do with that, but it felt pretty personal. I wasnt Rude to her, I didnt Do or say anything. I’ve been a waitress before, I know What it takes, and I’m not out here acting like a Karen.
I didnt Even complain to the manager cause it seemed like she was too busy hosting some party behind us, and I didnt want to make a scene, but i was very upset.
i told the waitress that we had waited 30 minutes for her and she didn't apologize, she just said "okay" when i told her we were upset and wanted to just leave.
As a business owner, that isnt how you treat customers. especially loyal customers like us, we wouldve kept coming back if the philly was good. sadly, i dont think we'll ever come back because of this experience, and i hope the owner sees this review and gives their employees some...
Read moreI tried to place a doordash order several weeks ago from this place. I got the notification that the restaurant had confirmed it. An hour goes by and the driver goes to pick up the order and it is cancelled. I call to ask what happened. The gentleman I spoke to was very nice. He apologized and said it should have been turned off for the NIGHT because they had first Friday going on. We chatted for a second and mentioned that the restaurant even confirmed the order. He said he was sorry and didn't understand either. Ok no problem don't place an order on busy nights. Several weeks later I try again on an off time without first Friday going on. Again it gets confirmed another hour goes by and it is again cancelled. I call again asking to speak to a manager as I'm just curious as to what's going on. He tells me he's not there and I start to tell him my order got cancelled. I can't even finish what I'm saying before he starts getting upset. He says he called doordash twice to shut it off and it's not his problem and that I need to reach out to doordash. I told him it is his problem as a business he abruptly says no says thanks and hangs up on me. How is it my responsibility to know that you don't participate in doordash when your business is still available to order from. That is DIRECTLY your responsibility to handle if you don't want to do it. You called twice about it? Guess you have to call again. Otherwise people will continue to think they can order from your restaurant. I never will again though. I'm glad I didn't waste my money on a place that is that rude over a simple question. Some of your staff need a serious...
