I’ve been coming to this place a while. Food is def decent, people that work there are generally really nice- I always tip them no matter what I buy. With that said I just had what I consider an inexcusable experience with I think the owner. The internet is slow there but at least usable. Internet accessibility is obviously important for any coffee shop these days. So today I’m there and the internet isn’t working on my devices. I see the owner behind the counter working as he typically does. He’s busy making coffee ( the place is usually busy so it’s rare they aren’t making something behind the counter ) I tactfully ask him if the internet is down - He replies in a semi nasty voice “ I’m busy making coffee right now - let me make these couple I’m working on and I’ll check into for you”. I was taken aback by his attitude towards it - he knows I’m a regular good customer - nonetheless I said “ ok fine “ and simply waited for him to get back to me. He never did. So I let 10 mins or so go by and I nicely queried his other staff member about it which he overheard . This time the owner responds rudely with “ I have coffee to make - I’m going to continue to do that - I have to make money here “. ????To myself I thought whoa dude all I asked you was why your internet was down. This guy obviously doesn’t care that his customers care about the internet service. More importantly he was rude. It’s really the only decent coffee shop in town. And it’s the only time I’ve ever experienced that type of response from him or anyone else there. In my opinion it was unprofessional and uncalled for. If I did that to a customer at my job I’d get fired. Enough said. I’ll go back because it’s still a good place- maybe he was just...

I wish I could give them a 1/2 star for service. This is the second time I’ve visited this establishment (sad since I live walking distance ) Customer service not really welcoming staff almost looks as if they’re being held hostage. Want to ask them to blink twice to let me know if they are in danger or not.

Now the “product” Latte and two blueberry crumb cake. The expresso in the latte was watered down, not sure who brews it but very very underwhelming! The crumb cake was also tasteless, you’d have to grab the top sugary crumble with some of the cake to make it taste like anything.

I decided to give this place a second try as the first time the service was also meh, it was busy so I didn’t want to be too harsh and figured I would try again on a less hectic day.

I do feel business owners consider their place being busy as they are doing “well”. I think, why not venture out and do your research and scope the competition and unfortunately I have to blame management, owners when the service suffers.

I want to shop local and support my community but I’d rather go where my money is appreciated and feel apart of something.

To add I don’t support franchises and consider myself a coffee connoisseur as I’ve been drinking from a...

I visited Silk City Coffee in Manchester, CT, on a very rainy day, and stepping inside felt like a warm embrace. The space is inviting, with plenty of seating for those working remotely, as well as cozy couches in the back—perfect for meeting up with a friend, reading a book, or simply enjoying a slow morning. There’s a real sense of community here, and it shows.

As for the treats:

Gluten-Free Vegan Blackberry Lime Donut – I don’t know how they made this gluten-free and vegan and still so delicious, but they did! Tart, sweet, and perfectly soft. Orange Ricotta Cake – Soft and moist with a lovely orange flavor. The frosting on top was the perfect complement. Funfetti Cookie – Soft, chewy, and just the right amount of sweetness. A fun, nostalgic treat. Regular Latte – Beautiful latte art and a bold coffee flavor. Bouquet Latte – Topped with delicate flowers, this latte was not only beautiful but also had a wonderful floral flavor with just the right amount of sweetness. If you like flavored coffee, this is a must-try!

Silk City Coffee is a true gem, whether you're looking for a place to work, catch up with a friend, or simply savor a great cup of coffee....

I’ve been a loyal patron here since the start and it’s, by far, the favorite go-to place of mine in the Hartford area. The staff is great, the baked goods are unreal (including vegan/gluten free) and are all baked on-site. Recently, the owners began roasting and packaging their own beans.. I have to say, the coffee has been terrific! It’s smooth, and to me, less bitter than the beans they had been purchasing prior (which weren’t bad, but when you prefer more balance, the current coffee hits the mark). It is also a very large space with back parking and picnic tables (including an awning) so you can enjoy your coffee outdoors in the nice weather. Can’t say enough… I recommend this place all the time! Support small businesses- they are what creates the neighborhood feel of any town! :)

I recently visited Silk City Coffee, and it was an absolute delight! Their lattes are simply out of this world—smooth, creamy, and perfectly balanced with just the right amount of flavor. It's clear they use high-quality ingredients and put a lot of care into crafting each cup. The shop is incredibly spacious, with huge windows that let in an abundance of natural light, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The beautiful decor, combined with the bright and airy feel, makes it the perfect spot to relax, work, or catch up with friends. Whether you're a coffee aficionado or just looking for a cozy place to unwind, Silk City Coffee is a must-visit. I can't wait to return!

Nostalgic for a decent café experience after moving here from NYC, I've finally found a place that truly builds community and revives coffee culture. Silk City manages to get everything right about a great coffee shop, inviting you to keep coming back. Simple and elegant decor: exposed brick wall, tall tin ceiling, hardwood floor tiles, open counter, clean walls, variety of seating options that are spread out sufficiently. All of these make for a warm and cozy café that lends itself to the perfect learning environment. Other things to love: great coffee, self-serve water, amicable staff, clean and well lit, wifi that works, roomy and open, community board.
