The food here was AMAZING!!! A little back story.
My boyfriend and I had the longest day ever and all I wanted was to try this restaurant out. I'm from NJ, on town working and I have a thing for East Indian food. Anywho, we get there around 9ish, it's right at the point where the whole covid19 restriction thing is beginning to subside and they're seating outside for the most part. Finally find a parking space, get to the restaurant and wouldn't you know it.... they're talking the chairs and tables back inside and preparing to close. MAJOR BUMMER!!!
I forget their names but I approached the young lady and man breaking down the outside dining section. They really were about to close down for the night. I told them my situation, promised if they'd let us have a table I'd personally assist them with clearing and storing the tables and chairs. Reluctantly, the young lady agrees and we sit down for dinner.
Imagine this, it's 9pm, we're in Manchester, it's a perfect summer night complete with breeze! We're the only diners on this perfect little corner with minimal traffic and we're surrounded by weekend nightlife! It was like something out of a 90's "Romcom" starring Tom Hanks and Julia Robert's. I couldn't have scripted this any better.
Now, we order:
We started off with the Coconut Shrimp and Pakora as an appetizer. ONE WORD, PHENOMENAL!!! The shrimp were perfectly coated. The coconut flavor and texture clearly indicated that this wasn't your garden variety, shaken from a bag, run of the mill commercial grade coconut. I wanna say they shave it fresh, try to convince me of anything different and I will no longer respect your opinion on fresh prepared food. The shrimp, not even close to being overcooked. Firm, juicy, sweet and pleasantly portioned!
The Pakora? Not as many veggies as in used to having but delicious all the same! It wasn't overbattered, not too dense, and every flavor I know I should taste was all but jumping out at me with every single bite!
Now, we dine:
If your not accustomed to or don't have much experience with Traditional East Indian food, I HIGHLY recommend starting out with THALI. There's a vegetarian and non-vegetarian option that gives a brief glimpse into what Indian is and how diverse it can be. You receive 8 cups, each with a different dish, throw in some Naan and you've got yourself a meal my friend!
Again, it left nothing to be desired as far as taste, portion or presentation. I couldn't have been more satisfied! This is definitely my go to spot for East Indian food when I'm in town. I may try others (honestly) but my heart will always belong to Taj India! Where hospitality meets great food and sits upon a foundation of modern day ambiance.
Thanks...
Read moreWhen you travel afar to cities long removed, mountains out in countrysides, islands lost at sea..one hopes to experience the new, the refreshing, the anomalous that disrupts the monotony of the norm.
Particularly in these times of quarantine, where the doldrums of self-isolation can wax infinite with each recyclable beginning and incessant end.
It is for these considerations that I am compelled to award Raj India of Manchester, NH five stars out of five.
The Garlic Nan was warm and fluffy. Fresh garlic was chopped into each piece which had been touched by a sprinkle of olive oil. The Onion Bajj was aromatic and filled with Indian spices. Each sauce, the sweet and sour Tamarind, the Savory Mint, the Spicy Tomato, provoked unique flavors out of each crumb of Onion Bajj.
The Nav Rattan Korma was full of carrots, eggplant, peas, a firm and satisfying cheese, luscious potatoes and other spices and veggies distinguishing each mouth warming bite.
The Mango Lassi was fresh and cool with a yogurt/mango fusion that had flavor balance between each ingredient. The meal was fit for Kings and Sultans, Queens and warlords.
If you have ventured through the region and your spirit has compelled you to get Indian fare, you can stop looking now.
You will not find better than Raj India throughout...
Read moreWe headed to Taj India today as we carved for Indian food for the weekend. This place is calm (for the time being) and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming.
There was the buffet open, but we ordered from the menu and there are a lot of dishes to choose from. We ordered an appetizer called Taj choice of appetizer platter (its the name or may be its similar as far as I can remember ).It was quite plate and the servings were yummy and the fried pakoras, poppadams didn't seemed oily. Which is awesome!
And next we ordered a portion of chicken naan and it was too delicate and its filled sparingly with shredded chicken. Bread was filling!! Finally its nothing if you don't order a biryani when you hit an Indian restaurant. The portion was large and sizzling hot! Chicken was nicely cooked, tender and full of flavor. Dressed in cilantro leaves and it was very welcoming!!
And I recommend everyone to try /finish their meals by a cup of chai tea. Its creamy very aromatic and calms the spicy gut!!
Hospitality was average and it seemed ok... The place is clean, nicely arranged and has the Indian vibe (bright colors, nice chandeliers,Indian paintings depicting Indian way of life and Indian/hindi music in the background) in...
