I’ve gone to the Wild Rover about 7-8 times in the last month. The food is delicious. So far I’ve had: the 4 out 5 of the Snack Wrap options (cheeseburger, fish taco, Rueben and fried chicken Caesar) plus one special (Steak Bomb snack wrap) all of which were delicious. I plan to try the falafel snack wrap soon which is the only one I haven’t had yet. The potato skins are delicious; perfectly crisp with the right amount of cheese and bacon. Pro-tip: you can get them with sour cream or hot honey sour cream, and the hot honey sour cream is definitely recommended. The Haddock and Handcuts (fries) were phenomenal. The coleslaw that comes with the haddock and hand cuts is very fresh and crisp, dressed perfectly and they add some masala spice to it which makes their slaw unique and gives it an extra flavor boost. The pretzels are also great: served hot and freshly made with honey mustard with a kick or pub cheese. I’ve had the Rover fries, which are their normal hand cut fries with extra spices, and they were a flavor bomb and cooked perfectly. The fries are served with smoked ketchup which kicks things up a notch. I’m going to work my way through the rest of the menu because everything here has been delicious and fresh.
This is a chill bar with a good draft beer list and a good variety of liquors. The mixed drinks are strong and very tasty. The staff are all friendly and attentive. You feel welcome when you come here. The crowd is also pretty chill. The bar has a very cool vibe with cool decorations, exposed brick walls, a nice bar, and a cool setup overall. The prices are extremely reasonable for drinks and food. This is definitely my new go to spot. Check out the Wild Rover and definitely get some food because their chef is clearly putting a lot of love and experience...
Read moreI recently visited The Wild Rover, and it was an experience I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was unwelcoming, largely due to the abysmal service and downright rude attitude of the bartender, Jessie.
To start with, Jessie seemed completely disinterested in serving customers. It took an eternity to get his attention, despite the bar being relatively empty. When he finally acknowledged my presence, he acted as if I was inconveniencing him by simply being there. His disdain was palpable.
What truly astounded me was Jessie’s lack of professionalism. At one point, he was more interested in having a loud, personal conversation with a friend at the bar than in attending to paying customers. His behavior was shockingly unprofessional and reflected poorly on the establishment.
Overall, my visit to The Wild Rover was a disaster. The horrendous service, coupled with Jessie’s hostile attitude, made it an experience I am eager to forget. If you’re looking for a place to enjoy a drink and some decent service, steer clear of The Wild Rover. There are plenty of better options in town that actually value...
Read moreVisited today after a 15 year hiatus. During that period there's been a change of ownership and chef. We're glad we returned. The atmosphere is the same, with a cozy bar in 1/2 of the building and a dining area in the other half. There are TVs on most of the walls, but they're not intrusive.
The menu is simple but adequate providing appetizers, small bites and Irish main courses. I had the bangers and mash which I found excellent, reminding me of the same I used to eat while living in Europe. It consisted of two sausages over a bed of creamy mashed potatoes with a tasty gravy. My partner had a daily special of smoked salmon that was prepared perfectly and served over a bed beans and butternut squash. To finish we shared a chocolate mousse which was fantastic.
Of course it's an Irish Pub, so there's an extensive list of beers and drinks. We will return...
