We (4) had dinner on Tuesday, February 25 all having different meals. (2 Manhattan Burrito, 1 Tacos, 1 chimichanga) The food was excellent & so was the service however we all started Wednesday February 26th with bad cases of DIARRHEA! Which lasted until early afternoon for all of us.
“The only common food between us was chips & salsa, which we ate a lot of, so much so that the salsa bowls were refilled from a plastic container / pitcher that contained room temperature salsa.”
I called the restaurant to let the owner know about our conditions and was told the owner would call me. I called the second time 4 hrs later and was again told the owner would call me. After 2 more hours I received an email reply from the owner stressing that they conducted an investigation and that all of the procedures were followed correctly and blamed our condition on a stomach bug that was present in Manhattan.
None of us had symptoms of any illnesses, all of us had been in Manhattan for 2 weeks due to family emergency, all of us were residing in different hotels it wasn’t a “Stomach Bug” it was something we ate at El Patrón! I deserved at least a courtesy call to discuss the problem. I didn’t make any demands for the $122 + $20 tip for excellent service.
I wonder how many others got sick……. Since numerous other customers received salsa from the same container ! Food & service was quality…….. but if something makes you ill, “It was a...
Read moreEl Patron is where you need to eat Mexican food in Manhattan, period. Located in downtown Manhattan, El patron has a cool exterior with outdoor seating available. It was 90+ degrees when my party went for dinner so we sat inside. The interior is cool and the bar is a visual focal point. We were seated promptly and our server was with us very quickly.
Complementary chips & salsa came to our table after just a minute or so after being seated. We ordered the house margarita on the rocks, which I definitely recommend. I ordered the Bandera plate which was wonderful. A three enchilada plate with a beef with mole enchilada, a cheese enchilada with white queso, and a chicken tinga enchilada with a ever so slightly salsa verde. All three were outstanding. The rice and beans were good. My adult son had the chicken tinga plate which he said was excellent. The amount of food was more than we both expected.
As good as the entree was, the highlight was the elote appetizer. Four small cob corns served with the requisite cheese, onions, fresh cilantro and tajin toppings. It was one of the better elotes I've ever had, and I eat a lot of it at home in Texas.
Although we were never rushed, we were in and out in 45 minutes and had a really...
Read moreI would call myself a regular at this place I would go twice a week sometimes even three. Just so you know I'm unemployed and don't have an income so I have to get crafty ways to get money. Well I thought that they would be more understanding when I went out Thursday night and they sat us right by the door with college kids coming in and out causing a cold draft. Usually I don't come on late Thursdays but the place was so packed. When I asked her waitress to move because I was freezing she kind of had like a giggly face on or she thought it was funny. I found a different waitress and went and resat myself down. Well both of our food orders came out wrong. I had to ask a waitress a question and she just dropped off the bill and left. Without even letting me say a word I mean she was quick on getting away. Talk to the owner because I just wanted him to hear me out what was wrong that night and I was still more than happy to pay the bill or maybe pay 50% off. He rushed me out the door and said don't worry about it it's free. The last year or so the management has changed and something is going on. I will be you gladly taking my money elsewhere. All respect lost for this place. Three stars because the food...
