We've been here a few times for various occasions but this last Friday night was horrible. I don't normally write reviews unless things are amazing or horrible. Retirement party, about 10-15 people. Happy hour 2 for 1 drinks-great. Ordered food along with others. Our food came out fairly quickly but was not good, didn't complain. Must mention our waitress was young 19 and very inexperienced but very nice and tried very hard. A friend who's young son has ordered almost 1st was still waiting still had not gotten his and others were finishing up theirs. Asked a guy who was by the kitchen, 'yeah, it's coming the kitchen is busy '. Ok. He got the wrong food finally, they fixed it. We asked for our bill, oh and by the way before we ordered anything they asked for a card to hold. We had 4 beers, and a $15 sandwich. $63. I almost choked. I asked for a itemized bill so I could see what I was charged for because obviously something was off, unless they were charging $10 a beer! We were charged for 6 beers AND they tacked on a alcohol tax $5 along with state, and city tax! By no means are they a fine dining establishment, clean yes but a bar no less next to a stripper bar. So I told her it was incorrect we had 4 beers. She fixed it and ended up being $43? charged again to my card. Both charges are still on my account so I'll give it a couple more days to make sure the 63 gets credited, sure hope so. The grumpy guy was the owner....
Read moreIf you haven’t visited the Moose in awhile, don’t expect what you used to know it to be. The service was mediocre, food was poor, and the prices didn’t account for any of that.
I stopped in before a hockey game with a party of three and understandably it was busy. We were helped by a waitress who let us know we weren’t in her section, and she did the best to check in on us and not let us go forgotten. Honestly she was great given the circumstances. Trying to get help from anyone beside her though was like pulling teeth.
The food was some of the most mediocre restaurant food I’ve been served in awhile. The Mac and cheese was soggy and you could tell it had been sitting. It was like velvets met easy Mac but it was all made with water. The chicken wings were undercooked, overly fatty, and generally small. The fries had also been sitting and were a mix of soggy and over cooked heat lamp consistency, and were seasoned well with nothing at all. The chicken tenders were the best thing served, because you really can’t mess that up. The tap beer was questionable, as it left the flavor of uncleaned lines lingering on the tongue.
Check out any of the other generic burger/wing sports bars in town before coming here- unless you only came for the other wings next...
Read moreThe Loose Moose is our pre-game hangout! There are many other establishments around the Verizon Center, but nothing compares to the friendliness, service, quality and value we get at the Moose. Mikey makes the best Long Islands in the world. Sue is an excellent server, always anticipating our needs and taking great care of us. Andy is always there to make sure we have a table, and Moose always stops to say hi. Everything feels genuine, and they appreciate our loyalty.
The soups on the salad bar are full of flavor. So yummy! On event nights, there is a limited menu, but still plenty of favorites to choose from, including a Taco Bar on Fridays. The menu for non-event nights is huge, and everything is homemade. We had the brisket recently and it was better even than what we smoke at home! They make a Thai peanut dipping sauce for wings and moose nuggets that is awesome.
Hockey season is coming to an end, but we will continue to make it a point to get to the Loose Moose until the next season...
