Madison Ave, Mankato: Walked in and waited for 15 minutes with three people that walked in before and 4 more after. During this time,, two cashiers were taking customer payments. When paying guests were completed, the two cashiers took bite of a cookie as the rest of us were never acknowledged. There was a spiral notepad behind me which one customer pointed out. We assumed it was a waitlist, so wrote our own names on it. While there was still no acknowledgment and wondering what was happening for seating, I politely commented to cashiers that it would be helpful to let customers know what the current status is so we are not left wondering. I was then approached by a staff member who stated there was not a manager and that I made the cashier cry. I thought that was odd as I have no control on another's emotion or responses. I explained the situation to this staff member as many customers were inquiring behind me what was the cause of a wait. The response I got was that their was short staff, no manager, and I was asked to.leave. Another staff member interjected her opinions and of course was siding with their stress and not acknowledging that there is a process issue. I left after being publicly shamed by Perkins staff and continuing their false perception of what occurred. I hope the cashiers learn from this experience. Know when someone is being assertive versus rude and instead of "crying", simply acknowledge the customer. Example, "I apologize for the long wait, we are short staffed and the wait time currently is __. " Please do not label your customers as mean and rude and tell them it is their responsibility to know the processes and procedures when walking in to the place you work. I asked another customer if I was rude in my initial communication, he stated...no. It is when you take things personal, assume, and create a false narrative that your customer will...
Read moreThis looks like a family friendly breakfast restaurant, however, I attended breakfast with a large group last Sunday and it took forever to get a waitress to take our order and then it took quite a long time to get our food. When our food came out eggs that were ordered "over medium" we're done "over hard" then then the eggs were sent back and they were brought back "over hard" again. After having waited so long to get the food at this point I was hungry and just went ahead and ate the egg, even though it was awful. I was not the only person at my table who had this "egg" experience. Finally some other eggs were brought out which we did not accept as we'd already eaten.
This is NOT the waitress's fault and the waitress took it very personally and ended up leaving our table and running off in tears which made me feel very very bad. We made sure the tip was generous because it wasn't her fault, it was the restaurant management's fault. They did not train their people correctly nor was the cook capable of cooking an "over medium" egg in 4 tries.
I know it's tough to find workers these days, if you're going to have a breakfast restaurant you need to have a cook that knows how to cook eggs, for crying out loud. You obviously have a great waitress, who cares, in the young lady who initially started waiting on our table. I'm sorry I don't know her name it began with "C" but she apparently gives enough of a damn about your restaurant to be upset that things weren't going well. You should train her better and give her the tools she needs to succeed.
I hope you'll share this...
Read moreTook my kids to have a simple relaxing dinner on 11/2/21 on Madison Ave and we’re seated immediately with our orders taken right away at 4:15 pm. The orders we placed was a burger, pancakes , chicken noodle soup, chocolate chip cookie, and my order was a shrimp skillet $13.95. The restaurant only had 4 customers and was not busy at all. At 4:55 pm - Our order has arrived finally, and as you can imagined we were starving. My kids had no complaints of course because their kids, but on the other hand my shrimp skillet was warm to touch and the rice was all clump together as if I heated up a TV dinner for $13.95. So I expressed my concern to the waiter and requested for something else edible but if it was gonna take another 40 minutes of wait then never mind and I refused to pay for a nasty meal. The manager then came out and said I still have to pay for my shrimp skillet because I ordered it. Going back and forth with the manager regarding food satisfaction was not in my favor and she demanded I pay for my shrimp skillet and If I wanna order something else I can. Right there and then I demanded for my tab/check so we can leave and rushed out of there, told my kids to hurry up and eat while the woman young manager and waiter stood by our table and did not want to leave after several demands for the check. We finally...
