In the shattered remnants of a once bustling cityscape, the battered and half-broken building of the Golden Corral stood shakily. Before The Great Crash reduced everything to ashes and dust, it might have been an average buffet place buzzing with jovial chatter and sizzling food. But now it held an ominous presence, a mockery of its former self.
The walls, though crumbling, wore an eerie shine under the dim sun. Its flickering neon sign struggled to shine, casting a grotesque glow onto the ravaged, hungry masses. Exhaustion clung to everyone like a second skin, but their hunger prevailed as they trudged inside, ignoring the repugnant scent that hung in the air of the buffet.
Our protagonist, Elijah, stood outside, watching this unsettling scene with a mix of disgust and despair. His stomach churned as he observed everyone around him shovelling heaps of rancid, half-rotten food into their mouths, their faces contorted in a surreal imitation of enjoyment.
"Elijah," came a hoarse whisper from beside him. It was his old companion Tom, a skeleton of a man covered in the filth of the dystopian world they lived in. "We have to eat, mate. There ain't much else left."
Forcing down a wave of revulsion, Elijah picked up a cracked, grimy plastic tray and mechanically approached the questionable spread of food. His eyes scanned over mold-ridden loaves of bread, a tragic attempt at stew sluggishly simmering, and grey, flaccid meat covered in a thick, unknown sauce. He dumped a bit of everything onto his tray.
He returned to Tom with a scowl. Seeing the starving masses around him valiantly ingesting the foul substance, Elijah couldn't shake off the dread that gnawed at his heart. Whatever this was - it wasn't survival. It was a mockery of life.
Tom studied him with hollow eyes. "Then what, Elijah? What else is there?"
Elijah didn't answer; instead, he watched the patrons gorging on their meals, their faces unnaturally lit under the LED lights of the Golden Corral. Easing his tray away from him, he pondered on the futility of it all. Once he had dreamed of a better world, a world where he could escape this nauseating dystopia, where food held flavor instead of the clammy, sour taste of defeat.
But as he looked around at the grim picture painted before him, seeing the desolation outside the shaky windows of the Golden Corral, the light of hope flickered and died. It was a stomach-churning reality, Elijah realized, a constant struggle between the desperate yearning for a better tomorrow and the harsh truth of his hopeless existence. In the end, there would be no rebellion, no confronting the system. There would just be surrender – sweet,...
Read moreMy husband and I were enjoying our meal. We went to grab seconds and as soon as we got back to our seats there was a large party of 15 people were connecting tables together. One of the server came to my husband and I and told us to move to a new table because there is a large group sitting to our table. That there are tables around us to move to. The server said she will even help us move our stuff over to a new table. Unless we are wanting to sit with the group. We said no and she said to move. She even said that the manager isn't available at the moment and that the place was busy.. So we moved. And group immediately took the table and connected it with the other three tables they already connected. At our new table another server came by and said that the only reason the server moved us was because the server knew the group and its something she cannot do. She offered to have a manager speak to us. My husband then spoke with the manager and the manager asked my husband what he would like the manager to do. The manager also said he was too afraid to get jumped by the group after work so he will not confront the group. He offered our money back or two free meals. My husband objected.
It is truly amazing that a manager of a Golden Corral is afraid to speak up because he is afraid to get jumped by the customers. That because his server knows the group, he would rather let the group put four tables together and kick out another party because they needed the table. Wow. I'm am truly amazed. Is this how Golden Corral is run now? Is this their new mission statement? Managers letting their servers make decision and not speak up.
Of course another server did come and take the tables apart because covid! And the group was not happy.
The food was good but I rather not go there again. I've already sent my experience to corporate. If manager's are too afraid to be a manager then do not be one.. If you cannot control your servers don't...
Read moreTo Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to formally raise serious concerns regarding the Maple Grove, MN Golden Corral location, which I visited on August 24, 2025.
During my 30–40 minute visit, I observed multiple issues that raise significant food safety and customer service concerns: • Improper labeling of food items on the hot bar. Customers could not tell whether items were beef, chicken, or pork. This creates a dangerous situation for individuals with dietary restrictions or allergies. • Lukewarm food on the salad bar, which is unsafe and does not meet basic food handling standards. • Poor overall food quality, with every item I sampled falling well below acceptable standards.
I initially raised these concerns to staff but was told the General Manager, Jim, would be unavailable until Thursday. When I called back, I spoke with a manager named Juan, who stated that “corporate wouldn’t do anything” and blamed the issues on “lazy employees.” I found this response highly unprofessional and dismissive. In my experience, poor leadership leads to poor staff performance, and the management’s attitude appeared to reflect a lack of accountability.
The combination of mislabeled food, food served at unsafe temperatures, and dismissive management is unacceptable for a national brand that families trust for both quality and safety. I strongly urge Golden Corral corporate to: Conduct an immediate review of food safety practices at the Maple Grove location. Hold management accountable for ensuring staff follow proper labeling, safety, and customer service procedures. Provide a direct response to confirm that these issues are being addressed.
As a customer, I expect transparency and accountability when it comes to food safety. I hope Golden Corral will treat this matter with the seriousness...
