Friendly fun counter service. Bright clean and cheerful ambiance with a poster of a Korean boy and Korean pop music. Needless to say this is a Korean bakery. I gave it a try. The pastries were beautifully meticulously crafted. Just beautiful! So hard to choose. It's like Paris Baquette (Japanese chain) but this one is Korean chain. I love everything about it. The people at the counter are fun to interact with. So 5 star for them. Then the pastries... the texture and the execution are just perfection. Only 3 stars for the Korean-styled combination that seems a little odd to me e.g. very sweet custard cream with garlicky buttery pastry. I would rather keep the sugar low on that one so the sugar doesn't fight with the wonderful garlicky buttery taste. The kimchi bun...no! The mushroom pastry was great until I bit into the rather raw onion. As long as I stay away from anything Korean, I feel fine e.g. all croissants and danish seem all great. So if you like sweet and savory Korean pastries, you will love it. My crime is ...I don't like the Korean + European fusion. I would prefer either European or Japanese pastries . But I encourage you to try it. Very very nice place. They have a lot of choices so take the ones you like. It will...
Read moreWe tried a few pastries, a couple iced lattes and I got a warm croque monsieur (notes on this below). We enjoyed the pastries and I was blown away by the variety. There's so many flavor options you don't see everywhere. I had a guava danish with a beautiful honeycomb pattern crust. It was perfectly crispy and plenty of filling.
The lattes were OK. The espresso was nice, not harsh, and strong, and layered on top instead of mixed or shaken by them. But the flavors we picked (coconut and tiramisu). didn’t really come through. A solid latte otherwise.
I docked a star because the croque monsieur was just not good. It had a single tiny slice of the thinnest ham, cheddar cheese on the inside instead of bechamel, and if there was any nutmeg I couldn't taste it. Between the sweet bechemel and the brioche, it was also overly sweet for a "savory" brunch option. I had to take off the bottom slice and fold the top over to make the savory parts balance out. Unfortunately, I make better croque monsieurs at home. Now, theirs wasn't poorly made at all, it just wasn't to my expectations or taste. There was plenty of bechamel on top, the bread crispy on the outside, and I even got some crispy cheese.
Staff were courteous and helpful.

Read moreI have always enjoyed the bread and this new location is closer to me. The main reason for 1 star for my first visit is the unsanitary of the staff checking out and packing the food. I assume the girl that was taking my order is new because it took her very long to ring up the bread and she was using this reference paper/pamphlet they had to look up the types of bread/bakery. While ringing us up she kept touching her glasses and her bangs; she had gloves on during this whole time. She got some helped and then proceed to use the same gloves that she used touch her hair and glasses to pack the bread. Before leaving they handed her the phone to answer where she proceeds to use that same glove to touch the phone and use one finger to block her ear to hear better. I was leaving at this point so I am unsure if she changed gloves after this…
Overall I think there needs to be better training on the staff because how are we, as customers, expected to use gloves and tongs to select our bread while the employees are just going to use the same glove that they used to touch everything to touch and...
