Before we even arrived we received a call letting us know the full water park features would be closed the first day we were there. When we arrived, we were checked in promptly and our requested crib was already at our room. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Our kids enjoyed being in the kids suite and having bunkbeds in their own area with a TV and playstation. However, it is worth noting, the room was just the same size as a normal room and it just had the kids area sectioned off which actually made the rest of the room feel quite small. The next day, NYE, we left in the morning and unfortunately, we missed many of the notices that they had apparently hung up later, but, when we returned, we learned they had a ton of fun and entertaining events going on for New Years Eve. Sadly, we missed all of that. And, that night, it was quite loud on our floor but you have to expect some of that on NYE. As far as staff goes, everyone was friendly, but, our server at breakfast, Michael, was exceptional. He was professional, polite, welcoming and an overall excellent ambassador for the Holiday Inn name. We were traveling with our small children and the highlight of the hotel was the wonderful waterpark. Our kids were able to enjoy all of the features. Everything was clean, open and an overall perfect atmosphere. It's not a huge waterpark, which we honestly enjoyed more than bigger places we have gone. We were able to see our kids at all times from all areas and they had enough to do that they were busy for hours and we knew they were safe while they were having fun. The lifeguards were personable and professional. I think they could use more signs with rules posted so the lifeguards aren't forced to repeat the same thing to every person who goes into an area they aren't supposed to be in . I for one would rather read a rule than be told what to do. But, they were always courteous in their interactions with us and other guests. I would definitely recommend this hotel for families. We also loved the location and took advantage of the fun stores and entertainment right around this location. We hope to...
Read moreMy sister, niece and I had a mini Girls Getaway for one night last week. We made our reservation a few weeks in advance and were looking forward to this location as we had stayed here before and really enjoyed it. The day before we arrived, I received a phone call to let us know that the water park is not open Monday - Wednesday. We were staying a Tuesday night so this meant we would not be able to use the water slides, etc. With this late notice, we did not have time to find a different hotel. I feel this closure could have been relayed to us more than one day prior to our arrival.
When we arrived at the hotel to check in, there were 3 staff members behind the desk. One woman was working with a couple. The second woman was focused solely on the computer screen. The last woman just stood back by the wall. We were not acknowledged whatsover and waited for 4 or 5 minutes before eye contact was made. It was awkward. As we had done online check-in, we were told all we needed to do was provide ID verification and pick up our keys. Once we were acknowledged it was a matter of glancing at my ID and handing me my keys that were set to go in a box on the desk.
We left the hotel and enjoyed activities located close to the location. Upon returning to our room to settle in, we pulled out the sofa bed and it was disgustingly filthy. The mattress pad had dirt and stains on it. There was no additional bedding provided. Upon calling the front desk, a staff member brought up a new mattress pad, several sheets, blankets and a pillow with no pillowcase. We had to strip the dirty mattress pad off and make the sofa bed, the employee did not offer to take care of this problem. I do not feel it is a customers responsibility to strip dirty bedding off and remake the bed. When we went to make the bed, we realized that all the bedding provided was for the regular bed, not a pull out bed so nothing fit or worked right. As my niece was tired, we just made the bed as best we could and went to sleep.
I used to love and highly recommend this hotel but I will do that no longer. I am very disappointed in...
Read moreWe reserved two rooms at this hotel for my daughter's 14th birthday party. I reserved my rooms directly with the hotel. I asked for two rooms right next to each other, because the teens were going to be in one room and the other girls/parents were going to be in the other room. When we arrived, we discovered our rooms were about a half mile apart, which caused problems throughout our stay. I was not told when I called that the hotel was being renovated. This meant the game room/arcade my daughter was excited about was closed. It also meant that the construction noise in our room during the day was so loud we couldn't hear each other talk. The refrigerator in our room wasn't plugged in when we arrived, so we had to fix this ourselves. The kids' room just wasn't as cool as we'd expected. The decorating left a lot to be desired. And the Playstation was in the small bunk-bed room, so the kids didn't even bother playing it. The TV screen in that room was tiny, and there was no room for the three of them to sit and play. The three girls ended up all sleeping in the king-size bed. The worst part of our stay was in the morning. The cleaning crew came as a huge squad at around 10 a.m. They started pounding on our door at 10:20 a.m., even though we had a Do Not Disturb Sign out. When we said we'd be leaving at check-out time, the crew manager gave us attitude. The crew then proceeded to pound on our door two more times!! I think 11 a.m. is a super early check-out time already, but to start being pushed out at 10:20 a.m. was unacceptable. When I did go out in the hall to walk to our other room, I had to dodge dirty sheets and towels and other cleaning supplies. Ridiculous!! The waterpark is nice and cutely decorated, but it's not really for older kids. It's set up for younger kids. This was my fault for not checking it out beforehand. My girls only stayed at the waterpark...
