So I thought it would be a good idea to go to subway to get a sandwich. So I went to the Maplewood Subway and I ordered a '6 inch subway melt sandwich. The young lady who assisted me seemed to be new and not sure what to put on sandwiches, because she went in the back and had to ask another employee what needed to go on my sandwich. So the young lady asked me what bread I wanted and I told her I wanted the bread with the Italian herbs and cheese. Then I told her that rather than getting ham, turkey, and bacon, on the sandwich I wanted to take the ham off the sandwich and it for substitute for turkey. I was ok with keeping the bacon on the sandwich. So the girl put four pieces of turkey on the sandwich, no ham, and two slices of bacon on the sandwich. She put the cheese on the sandwich and asked me if I wanted the sandwich toasted. I said yes and she toasted the sandwich. Then she asked me what I wanted on the sandwich after it was toasted. I told her I wanted spinach, tomatoes, green peppers and olives on the sandwich. She put all the veggies on the sandwich and then she asked me if I needed any sauce or seasoning for my sandwich and I told her I wanted to add a little bit of ranch to my sandwich. So she put the ranch on there and then she wrapped up the sandwich and put it in the bag. She told the other employee that she added turkey to my sandwich, and the other employee told her that she should ring my sandwich up as a turkey sandwich and add bacon. Ringing it up that way would mean I would be charged 4.79 and charged 90 more cents for bacon. So instead of my sandwich costing $5.39 for a subway melt it would cost 5.69. More than the sandwich I purchased. I asked why was my sandwich being rung up as a turkey sandwich with added bacon. The other employee said you can't substitute anything on a sandwich. I was confused because I should have been told this as soon as I told the young lady I wanted to take the ham off my sandwich and just have turkey instead. The other employee seem to be have no regard for me or the fact the I just wanted to get a sandwich and enjoy it like most people and be charged the same price the sandwich was advertised for on the menu. He had an attitude and should not have been hired in my opinion. I explained to him that I purchased this sandwich before and did not have a problem substituting the ham for turkey and had not problem before so now why was it an issue this time. He went on to say that he had been at the store since 2014 and only had come back to work for the store in January of this year. He seemed to be pretty sure of himself because he even had the nerve to say he had never seem me come to their store before like he was a smart ass. I was appalled at how unprofessional subway has become as a restaurant. The last thing the employee said to me was we don't need customers like you coming here. So I will no longer be coming to this subway even though I am a citizen of the Maplewood community. I will just take my business to other places like Tim Hortons if I want a sandwich...
Read moreThe guy that made my sandwich was the only person working and he was on the ball. He knew how to multitask and assisted all 5 customers very well in an orderly fashion. I wish I could remember his name. He was working Monday 6/27/22 around 12:30 pm. To that employee I say kudos to you. You are great at your job and I hope you receive the recognition from your supervisor that you deserve. To the owner I would like to say - pay your people (who deserve it such as this guy) a better wage because you don't want to lose him when it's already hard enough to find hard working and dedicated talent in this world of lazy and entitled workers. Had there not been a line I would have recruited him to come work for me and more than likely paid him better than what he's making. He's definitely worth it from the experience I had. Thus, my 5 star reviews is directed towards the service I received from him alone in addition to watching how he managed 5 individual orders back to back from start to finish by himself without becoming agitated, overwhelmed and unfriendly. Keep up...
