If you like being catfished, this is the place for you.
I searched all over for boba a few weeks ago after having amazing boba in Vegas with friends and in Phoenix as I came back to town. Unfortunately, while the website for bobacucue looks super cute due to the atmosphere and the wide variety of menu items, concerns and issues arise once you order your food.
I went for a date and sampled a variety of items. The brown sugar boba with pudding was what I looked forward to the most. The container is cute, but to me it tasted a bit too sweet even while part of the tea was a bit bitter. My wife loved her sakura boba drink. The chicken barbeque bao was also really good. I liked the flavor and bun, but this may be due to it not being made at the restaurant. The actual food that was cooked there, the waffle pop was where the real trouble lay.
Online and on the menu board in the store, waffle pops look amazing. The strawberry one looked coated all over with the strawberry glaze, and the brown sugar one appeared intriguing based on its menu description as it is supposed to have boba inside. At first I was surprised by the employee telling us that she didn't cook the pops well and could redo them. I opted to have them remade at my wife's suggestion. Unfortunately, once they were made, I realized that the strawberry pop was not evenly coated like the photo, and it had a strange taste along with an odd smell. The biggest problem though was with the brown sugar pop as it was extremely soggy given that the dough used is not the same as in Taiwanese waffle pops but was like pancake mix. Sogginess wouldn't be that bad though if the description was as accurate. The biggest reason for my disappointment came from the brown sugar pop not having boba inside and it not being able to be made with boba inside. When I explained that it's written on the menu, shown on the menu board, and also written online, the employee told me that the number 5 pop never came with boba and couldn't because of temperature. Well, why have false advertising then?
I can't go back to a place that deceives its customers. It's ridiculous to not have food as described. Update your menus if you don't make it. I regret spending thirty dollars on boba, waffle pops, and bao.
Don't listen to the high reviews. The restaurant encourages Google reviews. That's fine if they're accurate, but now I wish I simply drove an hour and a half to phoenix to get...
Read moreIt's a cute little shop. People inside were happy, and the machines seemed fun. I only went in for the waffle pops though, and I had a bad time.
Based on a recommendation from a friend, I went to Boba Cucue about a week ago. I thought I would love the brown sugar waffle pop. I was really excited to find a waffle pop with fillings. I've been to several Taiwanese shops in the mesa area before, but after moving to Tucson, I thought I would try this one.
The problem I encountered though was that the menu falsely advertises what the shop has. I wanted a brown sugar pop because it was supposed to have boba inside it, but once I bit into it I only tasted a mushy brown sugar pancake because of how much syrup was covering the pops. I wish my brown sugar waffle pop actually had boba inside of it. The description stated that it did.
Please don't go here. Everything is good on the surface, but it's just to entice you. It's a bait and switch when you actually order. I wish I had boba in my waffle. But, I guess it's a lesson learned just like how photos are taken for menus as they always make food look prettier than it is...
To make it clear, the owner has responded to my review and assumed I was told to write this by someone else. My friend Marie recommended this place to me. I don't know anyone else and have not written this to be explicitly negative. I'm simply shocked that the menu is wrong. But, it is also clear to me that I will never go back, nor will I recommend this place to anyone else based on the way I was attacked by the owner after posting a...
Read moreI went here for a date with my partner Patrick Coppaniger on Saturday. I loved the bright lights and cute mascots that lined the store. We shared a boba tea together which was alright. It would've preferred something that wasn't as strong or sweet however. I also thought it would be fun to eat some of the waffle pops with Patrick because they reminded me of yakitori and I love skewered food. So we ordered two waffle pops to share: a brown sugar and a strawberry. The strawberry had a light drizzling of pink sauce on it but did not resemble the photo on the menu. The brown sugar did not have boba inside even though I had Patrick read the description to me a couple of times while I did a double take. I was shocked and appalled that there wasn't boba inside of the waffle pop. The menu says it has it inside. I started to cry and had to go back home and have Patrick comfort me due to the discomfort and sadness I felt. I just wanted to eat some boba that was nestled warmly inside of his waffle...
