My family loves Cracker Barrel. It's a twice a month experience for us. But I went with a small friend group (5) for dinner last night. Horrible. We checked in at 6:15pm for 6 unfortunately a friend couldn't make it. We let them know 5 minutes later it would be 5. There was 1 hostess with a massive group of never ending people coming in. She kept seating, cleaning tables and checking people in. She was visibly overwhelmed. I spoke to her at 30 minute wait just in case my much older friend missed our text it was our turn. She told me we were still on the list. Weirdly people with parties of 4 or less and waiting 10 minutes or less seated. I watched this happen 10 more times when At 45 minutes I walked up and asked her if she had A manager. She then got very upset and almost started to cry. A server came over first time anyone came to her aid the whole time. Asked me what I wanted and I told her we had waited a very long time. She looked and said OH you have been waiting a long time. The server then offered to add a chair to a 4 topper to accommodate us. We accepted. Now I had a major fall risk elderly lady and another with a cane, but we fairly waited more time than another person in the resturant. Next the Associate Manager Justin Lucas( PS I never asked for his name. He insisted on giving it) charged over to our table to aggressively ask if there was a problem with us ladies. As his hostess was crying. Again, never yelled cussed badgered etc and I told him as much. But she was OVERWHELMED and unable to manage her position because of failure on HIS part!!! No support. 1 month on the job, very Young and that makes a perfect storm. My asking to speak to a manager was the straw. Just FYI we were finally seated at 7:05pm. Our server came at 7:23pm our food at 7:53. It came only after I asked our very sweet and kind Server Jessica if we were being punished for asking to be seated. She went back and within 5 minutes we had our food. But not before Justin came to the table to again be rude and trying to talk down to us. Told me that the chicken tenders had held up our meals. 1 person ordered chicken. I had COLD 2 sides only and the lady who order a baked potatoe was cold enough the toppings wouldn't melt. Etc. Before I left I asked to speak with him again. This was to clarify my first encounter. He came out again with a poor attitude. I wanted details on the check in etc and earlier he had commented I was to speak to managers only not his employees if I had questions such as how much longer until we will be seated. Again not mean and I had 4 witnesses to that. He then proceeds to inform me he had planned to demand us to leave the resturant because of how I treated her. That when he found out she was upset that the customer who was waiting 10 minutes that I interrupted pointed me out and they don't tolerate that. But he felt he would give us a chance. I have never been a "Karen" and I wasn't then. He never owned his poor management or even tried to assist this girl or us. He was over the top full of his I am the manager power. Sad but true. I know how hard it is to find people. Not even good people just people. But I would not say He is one. And guess what he was the problem. Yes, I wanted answers as to why we were not being seated but I did not deserve to be treated like that. PS they had 2 larger tables but not for 5 the whole time. She sat repeatedly groups of 1 and 2 in tables that could be put together in the big hall. She just was overwhelmed. And honestly they probably went "we had 20 tables sat" while my group was just one. I have no clue if I would ever go back. Two of my ladies groups are the sweetheart types and they were shaking because he was so rude...
Read moreFelt a sort of way about this Cracker Barrel. Felt like the hostess who seated us was singling us out because I was the only non Caucasian in the building. They sat us in a corner next to emergency door which was so small that our food did not fit on the table. Not sure if the staff was just messing with us to be honest. Our 2 meals came on 6 different plates which did not fit on our table plus our appetizer. Looking around other couples had 4 seaters and there were plenty of seats during our meal. No other table got all sides served on separate plates like we did. Our server was great but couldn't help but feel like I was unwelcome.
Food ,Husband got the ny steak ordered medium rare came out almost well done and hard as a rock almost unedible. My fried chicken was good.
Our waiter was good tried his best to be attentive. Probably felt sorry for us. We left a 30 percent tip. 4 stars for the waiter wished he put our meal on one plate but not his fault since he wasn't plating. Also wished he would have removed everything excess off our table but didn't offer.
Hostess needs to be retrained! When I asked for a table told me it would be a 45 min wait. No smile or welcome or nothing almost as if she wanted us to leave. It was a less than 10 minute wait to get a table which was a red flag. Second when the second hostess called our names we went up with another couple and she tried to seat them first, in turn the couple was still waiting for other people and asked to be seated second but the hostess gave me reply like well you have to wait until I seat them first. It wasn't until the couple insisted that she sat us at our table. Almost like we were bothering her just being in her presence. As we were being seated the first hostess who told me 45 minutes gave the hostess seating us a confused look like why are you seating them. This is a first for me at any restaurant being treated this way. Especially from such a large chain. She sat us in the corner in the smallest table possible when there were booths open...
Would I go back? Nope !!! Not to a establishment that has such untrained employees. $90.00 for 2 people with such terrible hostess no thank you. We saw some friends dining at a booth across the room. They got a huge booth for 3 people and yes they fit right in because they were all Caucasian. My friend made a joke about it being Cracker Barre after l explained what happened and we all just...
Read moreI’m gonna write this overly long review in hopes Arnold ((he’s great)) sees it. The last few times I’ve gone here the service has been bad. It’s slowly getting worse and worse but tonight takes the cake. I won’t publicly bash the server but she sucked!! The bus boy greeted us and got our drinks because the server never came and it had been about 10 mins. Another server brought the biscuits we ordered but our server never brought us silverware so we used our fingers to spread the butter and jelly haha. Waited 40 mins for food that had just been sitting in the kitchen window. Server still never checked on us. The bus boy came to the table and offered to check on our food!! Because even he noticed it was taking forever. When it finally did come and she asked how the food was I said, I don’t know because we STILL don’t have silverware. Spoiler alert, food sucked cuz it had been sitting in the window getting cold and dry. Long story short, Arnold a manager came to talk to us. Arnold went above and beyond to fix our awful experience. It was beyond fixing but Arnold did everything he could. This man RAN to the kitchen to make us food that we had ordered that our server never brought then told us was sold out haha. ((That was a lie)) He ran, didn’t walk, he ran and made the dish himself and served it to us and got our refills because our server never did. Our drinks were just melted ice at this point it had been so long. Arnold you told us to take the extra food home, we wanted to!! But the server never checked on us so we could ask for boxes. We were there for about an hour and 20 mins, our server came to the table a total of 3 times I believe. ((Took the order, brought the food, dropped the check, pathetic)) Also, the French toast you made my daughter was good, she was just full so she didn’t finish it. Arnold and the bus boy for the win. I wish I checked the bus boys name but I didn’t. Make that bus boy a server, he was a better server than our real server. I’m assuming he was a bus boy because he was cleaning all the dirty tables around us and sweeping. I suppose he could have been another server just cleaning his section. Anyways thank you Arnold and to our...
