Mantis Gourmet Chinese Food — Restaurant in Marana

We usually love ordering take out from Mantis. Tonight we ordered Chow Mein. The noodles arrived with a small area of black and green on them. It appeared to be mold. I called the restaurant to advise our Eat Steet delivery ordered had mold on it. I was initially told by the woman answering the phone we would receive a refund she then spoke with someone else in the restaurant and stated we would NOT receive a refund which was fine because what I really wanted was an order of rice in place of the chow mein noodles.

I was then told the noodles are cooked fresh daily and it was not mold it is a dusting of flour on the noodles. I asked why then was it green and black and only in one spot and they informed me it must be burnt. How is only one small area burnt and since when is burnt food green?

No other explanation was offered. They did not resolve the issue or seem to care about my complaint or concern.

DO NOT ORDER FOOD FROM HERE THAT MAY BE MADE IN ADVANCE AND LEFT ON A SHELF...

It is a great place for a meal, their selection is varied, I had the chance to try both their beef pho, and sesame style beef, both of which were appealing to the taste buds. The sesame beef wasnt too chewy to the point I felt like I was chewing on rubber, which I have had at other restaurants, and the flavor was Mmmm worthy. Same is to be said for the pho, I am a stickler for soup esque dishes, and their pho tops any other I have had previously. The soup is prepared wonderfully, and the flavor doesnt taste like theres more water than broth. It is very rich, and added with the other ingredients adds a wonderful abundance of flavors that your taste buds want more of.

The staff, are also very courteous, informative, and do their best to acclimate to your needs, rarely did I have to wave them down or ask for a refill.

All in all, a wonderful place, next time, will take pictures before I eat...

I haven't been back to Mantis since I moved across town years ago. I was sad to see they had closed, but was happy to see that they had only moved locations.

The new location is still a small dining area, but is much more roomy.

The owner himself is very charismatic and welcoming! I didn't realize I had forgotten my War Wonton Soup, so when I called about it. He actually had tried to catch me before I left the parking lot, but it was too late. When I came back today to pick it up, he remembered my face and name as soon as I walked in. That alone gives me positive vibes and a great experience.

Now, for the food. My go to was always the BBQ Pork fried rice. That was still as delicious as I remembered. I tried a few new dishes this visit and they did not disappoint! The spices were just...
