Let’s start with the soup. The kids had the French onion soup and they were raving about to much I had to try. We all agree that this was THE BEST French onion soup we have ever had. 4 votes, unequivocally the best!!
We also had some truffle fries and they were really good. Between the 5 of us, they were gone in about 30 seconds. Everyone liked them.
For dinner we ordered the Scallops with pork belly, the Bolognese, the seafood linguini and the lobster and crab Mac and cheese.
The scallops with pork belly was the best of all the meals, hands down. The pork belly was perfectly cooked and so were the scallops. The bbq sauce on the pork belly was good, but it didn’t need to be so much. Either was it was awesome.
Next in line was the Lobster MAC N Cheese. It was delish!! The aauce was almost a bit to close to an alfready sauce but it was perfectly yummy. Just not the cheesy gooey I would usually expect. It was still really really good though.
After that It was a tossup between the Bolognese and the seafood linguini. Both were good, but not as good as the others. The meat sauce in the Bolognese was a wine mean sauce. If you like that sort of thing you might love this dish. It was a little to wine flavored for us.
The seafood linguini was good. We really liked the gravy that came drenched over the noodles. The shrimp were really goo but, the dish did taste a little fishy. Not bad, just a little. Probably just normal from the shrimp. Personally that is why I never get a seafood pasta with shrimp because to me, they always taste fishy no matter where you are. My daughter ordered it and she liked it.
Overall I’d give this one a 4.4 star. We will definitely come back here the next time we are in town. They also have outdoor seating. The service was good. The folks there are very nice and friendly....
Read moreLesson learned. I looked at the stars without reading reviews; looking back I see these high ratings are largely in reference to the happy hour and lounge area. I'm not surprised after visiting, the bar area was packed and everyone seemed to be having a great time.
I visited with my family, including two young kids. The food and experience were just okay. Drinks were the best part, generous pour and tasty. Kids mac and cheese was enormous and expensive at $10. Plus $3 for milk. My kids could have split the portion, instead most went home/to waste. Rolls and infused butter were warm and tasty. I ordered the scallops and pork belly, which I see were specifically reviewed by a previous poster as not being very good. The pork belly was not crispy as the menu described and I was left to cut it with a butter knife, which was quite a task. Flavor-wise I thought everything needed salt and the bbq sauce needed spice to stand up to the blue cheese. My husband enjoyed his bison burger just fine, and we split the shrimp risotto, which was good but again, needed salt (although manchego is our favorite cheese of all time, so it would be hard to fail on this one!). Lastly, service started good but we did not see our server again after the runner brought our food and she stopped to see if we needed anything else. I had to get up and pack the kids to leave before she came back over.
Overall it wasn't our worst restaurant experience, but for the prices and stars I expected more. We probably won't be back unless it's just the two of us...
Read moreMy new wife and I had our wedding reception at La Tavola Restaurant. We couldn't be happier with the decision to go with this restaurant.
We called and made reservations over a month in advance. They were extremely accommodating and worked with our needs. We were a small wedding party with fifteen total people including four kids under the age of 13. We reserved the small room and it was absolutely perfect for our needs.
We arrived to find that the restaurant had lost power. The staff was extremely apologetic and immediately informed us of the situation. The only thing we noticed with this hiccup was that it was a little warm without the air conditioner. La Tavola had no control over this problem but rose to the occasion and exceeded any expectation we may have had with dealing with a problem. Frankly, had they not told us the power was out we may not have noticed.
Oops, this is a restaurant review and you're reading this to find out about the food. One word: excellent!
With a group of fifteen we had choices picked out all over the menu. There were nothing but rave reviews from our group. Everything was delicious and plentiful.
Service was outstanding as well. Our waiter was extremely attentive and anticipated our needs. It was a perfect dinner experience, especially when you consider that we had a group of fifteen and the staff was working without electricity.
Thank...
