My husband and I have come here multiple times as it is one of the few dine in Mexican restaurants that isn't just a quick eat/treat type of place. The food is good but I have noticed that the meat (doesn't matter if it's chicken, ground beef, steak, or pork) is all made the same. In other words, everything is pre-cooked, probably in large batches, then once someone picks a dish, the sauce, toppings, and side items are placed on a plate and the entire plate is thrown in the oven which is why you will burn yourself if you even slightly touch the plate. This last time that we came, I wasn't impressed at all by my dish choice. I decided to try the pollo en crema or chicken in cream sauce. They have a couple of dishes that are made with this sour cream sauce and the one I chose had onions, bell peppers, and mushrooms incorporated into the sauce, as opposed to a more plain option. Anyway, maybe I should have picked the other dish because the vegetables were practically raw. It was obvious that they were just thrown on top of the chicken and drowned in sauce. Plus this dish should have been called HERE'S YOUR RAW CRUNCHY ONIONS as there was hardly any chicken to be found. It barely even had any of the other veggies. I think I found a few slivers of bell pepper and mushroom. They could have at least sauteed the veggies before incorporating them into the sauce, but no, they were very much hot, raw, veggies, with pre-cooked (boiled) chicken mixed with cream sauce. I must say the sauces are pretty tasty, but I'm growing less and less impressed by their dishes as they all have the same flavors in the meats and sauces they use. Which is how I can tell that they everything is pre made in a large batches and then trown together when you order it. Plus everything comes out rather fast. I would say, it's good but not great. Pick your main food item carefully. The rice and beans are pretty good, but I do believe that the beans are canned. At least that was the flavor I got this last time we came in. Believe me, every Mexican knows the difference. So I guess it's good enough to fool the gringos, definitely a step up from shacko taco if you...
Read moreReal REVIEWER. NOT PAID BY RESTAURANT! My wife & me were hungry and wasn't trying to go to Chandler for our next meal. We have already went thru Copas' eateries. We didn't want Culver's or PIZZA today. We settled on this LOCAL MEXICAN PLACE. We walked in the dining room which was dimly lit with no sun light in whatsoever! It was around 3:30 pm so that made our lunch date more INTIMATE, I suppose! We were greeted with a waitress that was TOO BUSY and was at our table 2 seconds at a time!!!! Literally, no exaggeration!!!! I asked for a recommendation on the food she hands out from the kitchen regularly. She looked at me with disgust and rolled her eyes and said EVERYTHING. Noted, so I'll get the easiest things to not MESS UP, NACHOS. The nachos were in a pile of old refried beans. I asked for FAJITAS CHICKEN (Grilled) and received a mystery shredded meat that was TOMATO BASED! The Nachos were so UNDERWHELMING, the QUESO cheese wasn't even hot. They could of at least put it under a broiler to get color and add to the overall MEAL VIBE & TEMPERATURE! Did I mention they was about 3 HUGE LATTLES OF OLD REFRIED BEANS. Even with COVID PRECAUTIONS the PATIO WAS CLOSED. My girlfriend chimi was under sized to be filled with cheap STAPLE FOODS. THE meat again wasn't FAJITAS, it was a shredded chicken product drenched in a TOMATO SAUSE, NOT MOLE SAUSE!!!! We only reviewed and went to this establishment SOLELY BASED on reviews. Most reviews are from ppl who are paid by the restaurant to leave!!! STAY WOKE YALL! GO TO WALMART PARKING LOT TO 🔥((HOT S.O.S))🔥 their food is BETTER, HOTTER, FRESHER, AND WAY MORE...
Read moreThe service is good. The waitress was polite and friendly. The atmosphere is what you'd expect from a restaurant of this type. Average. Nothing spectacular. The food however, is what sets this place apart from other restaurants. From the appetizer to the main course, only one phrase could describe it, disappointingly bland at best. When the food wasn't bland, it was bad. Some of the meat in one of the entrees was expired for sure. The taste and smell was undeniable. The red sauce on the enchiladas was unexpectedly sweet. But not in a good way. It over powered and ruined the dish. The drinks were perfect however, very cold beer, the soda wasn't flat, and the refills were timely. For that reason alone, they deserve a second star. This was my 5th visit to this restaurant over the past 6 months. And my last. I was really hoping that they would get better. But they seem to be going in the opposite direction by cutting corners, and reducing quality to save revenue to compete in this market and stay afloat. It is sad. This place does have potential. Just needs better management, recipes, and ingredients. I didn't mention price for a reason. Low, fair, or high, doesn't matter if the food isn't...
