I ordered picadillo for delivery, and it arrived quickly and still hot. (So no problems getting the food to me fresh and hot.)
I was having a craving for one of my favorite Cuban dishes, one that I've enjoyed at selected restaurants over the last 20 years or so, from coast to coast, and I've never been disappointed before ... until now.
The picadillo I got here was seemingly little more than ground beef mixed with a bit of tomato paste. I couldn't find any olives or raisins anywhere in the dish I received, nor could my taste buds detect any spices added.
I didn't eat much of this entree as a result, but the next day I was able to salvage it by sauting the rest of the picadillo and veggies with some scrambled eggs and spices ... but honestly this food should be more appealing and flavorful than as a "scrambled eggs starter kit."
I'm really shocked at my experience, as the reviews here are pretty good, so I thought this restaurant was a safe bet.
The veggies on the side were similarly bland, with just the least bit of seasoning. The french fries were pretty good, but it's hard to mess those up, and I only got them because the photo in the app showed them paired with the picadillo so I figured I'd go with the restaurant's suggestion.
The only thing I was really impressed with and enjoyed was the guava and cheese pastry. I've had better versions of that pastry in Florida, but still it was tasty and not...
Read moreThis is an EXCELLENT place to enjoy delicious Cuban dishes for a great price. The appetizers are delicious and the entrées are absolutely delectable. I have to say the server they have working there is also excellent, perfectly attentive without being overbearing. Not once did she ask me how my food was after I took a bite! I love the Ropa Vieja, it's my personal favorite but the Palamino Steak and Grilled Chicken are also delightful. I love their fries and their maduros! They have a Mojo sauce that's really tangy and interesting to compliment the food. This is easily one of the best restaurants in Marietta and one of the best Cuban restaurants, if not THE BEST in Georgia, do not miss out on a chance to try this place, I can guarantee you'll love it and you'll be back. I'm a very hard critic on food quality but this place is simply wholesome and delicious. It's home cooking, it's Cuban comfort food. I want to post some pictures of the dishes but every time I go here I finish the food before I take the pictures eventually I'll remember but I get so excited that it hasn't...
Read moreOne of the characteristics of Latin food is freshness... Freshness that you can feel in the flavor and the looks of the food. This place definitely lacks of both. First, it says is a Cuban Dinner, but with all due respect, there's not a single Cuban cooking. The flavor isn't Cuban at all. We ordered two "moro" ( rice with black beans), baked chicken and "fried cow", plus tostones and fried yucca. The tostones were not fresh... Rice was almost cold. The chicken was tasteless and the worst: our food was ready like in 5-6 minutes( not exaggerating). That was a bad sign! After I complained to the manager, they just said that everything was fresh and that maybe we weren't used to the Cuban taste... I was born and raised in the Caribbean!!! They charged the full amount of the check ( more than $40). As a person who has eaten Cuban food many times, I can tell you this place is not offering the Cuban taste at all. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone wanting to have a good meal and having a taste...
