I stopped by MBB for lunch after reading the reviews and seeing a 4.5 rating. I went in to obviously grab a burger. I walked in and had to figure out whether I needed to take a seat or go to the register. I walked up to the server (who didn't even greet me) and asked. Told her it was my 1st time, and I wasn't sure.
I sat down and noticed that the floor was pretty filthy. Dried up clay/dirt, scraps of food, and crumbs were under every table. Mine was really bad, so I switched tables. I do love the menu, I will say that much. My choice to switch from a burger was made when I saw they served Chicago Italian Beef. Thought that would be perfect for lunch. Man, was I WRONG! I have eaten a hundred Italian beef sandwiches in my day. I am not kidding when I say this was the worst IB I have ever had in my life! It was literally the most bland beef I have ever tasted. I was forced to sprinkle salt on the entire sandwich to bring out any flavor. I loved that the sandwich was soaked in au jus, but it did not help with enhancing the flavor of the meet. The fries were good, really good. Wish they would have used some of the seasoning on the entrée. I didn't even want to finish the last couple of bites due to the lack of flavor. The 2nd server was extremely friendly. Older lady...I could tell she appreciated me being there. Mealnwas reasonably priced.
Overall, I just can't give it more than a 2. I cld forgive the floors because it was at the end of the lunch rush, but they weren't extremely busy where someone cldnt go around and sweep up. But the absolute killer was the bland Italian Beef. Being original from the Chi, I have high expectations. This was just a very poor job of representing Chicago in Atlanta. Because it's a burger joint, I am willing to give it another go. But there are other places around I want to try 1st. Please do better,...
Read moreFood was excellent! Unfortunately the service was not. It didn’t seem to be very crowded during our visit. Server sat us promptly (party of 6 and 2 of us showed up first). We got our drink orders and about five minutes later the rest of our group arrived and sat down. About 15 minutes later we had to flag down a server (not the one who sat us) and ask for water and menus. Everyone ordered. Simple orders- no substitutions- a burger and side. Food came out promptly and hot, but before the waters were ever given to us. When it came time to pay it seemed simple to us- two were on one check- and the remaining four of us were separate. Somehow drinks got switched to other bills- I don’t know. All of our cards were gone from our possession for about 15 minutes and when we asked what was taking that amount of time for such a small party with simple orders, the joke was “We are getting your cards now, had to go shopping first.” Not funny, awful service. I try my hardest to be understanding and I will always be as kind as possible, but this level of service was really unprofessional and dissatisfying. Let me be very clear- the staff were not rude or standoffish in any way whatsoever. Just not what we had hoped for with so many positive reviews. Kudos to kitchen staff, but front of house- not so much. Will not...
Read moreEXERCISE CAUTION! While Marietta Burger Bar has some of the best burgers and onion rings I've ever had, I recently went in for takeout -- my 1st time since the pandemic. The dining room and outdoor patio were both open for dine-in patrons. However, not a single employee was wearing a mask. Restaurant employees are required to wear masks under the state guidelines for re-opening. This is especially alarming given the high numbers in Cobb Co. When I see something as simple as employees choosing (or the owner/management dictating ) to not wear a mask, it makes me wonder what other guidelines and regulations and/or food safety & health dept requirements are they choosing to ignore-?? I'll do without my basic burger, onion rings and pretzel with beer cheese for now and before I do return in the future after the spread has dropped to minimal numbers, I will still wait until the health department has re-inspected and I can view their score before deciding if their delicious burgers are worth it. I was very disappointed to see the restaurant is not taking the health of the employees and their customers into consideration. EDIT: There was a bottle of hand sanitizer by...
