After reading all of the 5star reviews I am disappointed we did not have a 5star experience ourselves, we must have just chosen the wrong time to come in. I dropped my 82 yr old handicapped mother off so I could park the car. When I entered the restaurant the host identified me as Kim and to directed me to follow a hostess, huh? I explained I was not Kim and who my reservation was for, and the hostess led me upstairs, I stopped and asked why was my senior mother seated upstairs and she just smiled and said everything was fine....what?!? I asked if my mother used an elevator, no, they do not have one, I asked if my mother was given an option to sit downstairs, no, she did not ask to sit downstairs.....really?!? I expect a restaurant that markets themselves as a fine eating establishment to have better customer service and at a minimum use common sense when watching an 82 year old handicapped senior slowly struggle with climbing stairs. After a few minutes of back and forth, which also is unbelievable, more words should not have been necessary, the situation should have been remedied immediately, but it was not and only when said I wanted to speak with a manger the hostess bounced into solution mode and accommodated us by allowing my mother to use a chair lift in a private stairway so we could be seated downstairs, I did not want my mother to try to manage a a staircase after eating a meal and possibly having a glass of wine. It was not busy downstairs but it took more than 10 minutes for our sever to take our drink order, then we watched our 2 drinks sit on the bar for close to 15 minutes as our server walked past the drinks 4 times and the bartender and another server stood right next to the drinks chatting and laughing away, not working on anything, just socializing. Very hard to understand why a bartender would not notice drinks sitting there that long and not attempt to have them served. I feel like I should have walked the few feet between our table and the bar to get them and just serve ourselves. I ordered a second drink for dessert and when dessert arrived, our server said he forgot my second drink. The crab meat on both of our the Crab Cakes Benedict was burned on the edges. Really hard to understand how we had such poor service today but at a minimum ALL staff should be trained to NOT seat an 82 year old handicapped senior upstairs and to OPEN their eyes when they see her struggling to get up the staircase, good grief, very disappointing to say the least. I am fully aware, as the hostess stressed to me 3 times, that downstairs can be requested when making a reservation, however I thought I would be walking in with my mother and I would make sure we were seated appropriately, but I was parking the car and was not there. Still, where is the common sense these days and where is decent customer service? No excuse...
Read moreI had one of the worst bartending experiences Iâve ever had here tonight. Like, WOW. So, my mom and I go out for dinner and sit at the bar upstairs. I go to the bathroom and when I come back I had a Prosecco sitting in front of me, and there was a wine glass in front of my mom. I start sipping (Iâm 25) and the bartender (she has dark red dyed hair) comes up to ask for my ID. This bartender usually never IDs me, but of course I go to grab it for her. It turns out, I forgot my ID in the car. I tell her Iâll go get it. Okay, whoops, but I understand that I need to show it because I worked in the service industry and thatâs a big deal. She tells me I canât have the drink (after sheâs seen me drinking it and itâs almost gone) and snatches it away- like in a very demeaning, rude way, saying that I look underage. I tell her that Iâll go grab it out of my momâs car really quick but she told me âItâs too late Iâm not serving you tonight.â I think the manager came around and she got spooked. A little too late but whatever, Iâll just eat my dinner and get on with it. As my mom and I are conversing the bartender comes up and tells my mom that she canât have her wine glass in proximity of me. Which makes NO sense. Iâm on the tail end of a cold anyways and my mom and I are not sharing cups period. My mom declines, and says she can have her wine glass wherever she wants and on whatever side of her she wants. After that it just went downhill. I was like look, thereâs no need to be rude, Iâll go get my ID, but the bartender was not having it and kept saying that I was obviously underage and that there was âno way in hellâ she was going to serve me any more Prosecco that night (which I hadnât even pressed the issue any more so I donât know why she brought it up again) and that âthat wine glass better be far far away from you when I look over here again.â Uh yikes. Never heard that before. I was reeling. Iâd love to upload a picture of my ID or send it to the managers just because of the principle of the matter at this point. We got our food to go and left. Food was good! I understand having bad, busy days in a restaurant but I also understand how to navigate certain situations with grace while also implementing rules and legalities. This lady absolutely does not know how to do that. Please, PLEASE someone call me or email me so that she does not continue to be hateful...
Read moreThis was our first time to this restaurant, but we had heard about it for years. We met friends during the holidays for dinner. Maybe we just had a bad luck of the draw from our table to the service to the head of the house to two of the dishes. It happens.
We were seated in a booth across from the end of the bar. There were so many people at the bar, we were literally yelling to hear when another talk.
We asked for a different table, but were told none were available. There was an empty booth two away from us (further from bar) and we asked if we could move there. The waiter said he would check. The head of the house came by and said he would also check and try to make an adjustment. He also shared that the large group at the end of the bar would be seated fairly soon.
Fifteen minutes later we hadn't heard back from him and another couple was seated at the other booth. The large party at the end of the bar had not been seated yet.
Meanwhile we ordered an appetizer and a bottle of wine. After we finish the appetizer, we ordered dinner and the plates from our appetizers were cleared.
We placed our order. Both couples were splitting a salad. We asked for light dressing. The salads were brought to our table with an extra plate so we could split the salad ourselves. Of course we are perfectly capable of splitting the salad onto two plates, but at this price point, our split salads are generally brought to us already plated. It's also easier to split your own salad when you have some silverware. But our silverware had not been replaced from being cleared with the appetizer plates. Oh, the salads had plenty of dressing.
The men ordered the house specialty steak, which they said was delicious! The women both ordered fish which was very average and overcooked. We didn't hear from our waiter very much and had to stop another waiter to ask for our waters to be refilled.
When we were asked if we would like dessert, we said no and paid our bill. We walked around the beautifully lit Marietta Square and popped into a place for some delicious hot chocolate and yummy gelato!
Like I said in the beginning of this review, we maybe got a bad luck of the draw even though we had reservations. If you do go here, start by making reservations but be sure to ask to be seated away...
