We moved to Georgia from Tacoma, Washington about 2 years ago. I was a part of the local home brewing scene and had very established relationships and expectations for service, availability, and recommended recipe options. Upon finding Thomas’ store, I have found that his operation is top notch! I immediately fell in love with his store design (which he built most of!), and most importantly the service. Thomas not only uses software to help you build your own recipes, but he saves your profile, so you can go back and easily re-brew a beer.
His growler selection is always diverse, ensuring you are getting the beer that you can’t find in a bottle. One of my favorite things to do here, is try a flight of his mostly local (but not always) offerings.
He also carries a wall full of craft beer from all over the country, if you are looking to customize a six pack. Once again, most of the items will be things you won’t find at your local grocery.
Another unique part of his business is that you can brew your own all-grain recipes in store, and let it ferment in his temperature regulated refrigeration unit! This is amazing, as it’s college level, personal training on all grain brewing. If you are an experienced extract brewer, it’s a great chance to use top of the line Blichmann equipment to learn to move to the all-grain process.
If you haven’t been to Schoolhouse Beer and Brewing, get up and...
Read moreThomas and team have created a complete experience for any beer enthusiast. If you're a home brewer of any level, they have the equipment and the know-how to help you craft an excellent beer. They recently started a home brewers club and have built out a brewing lab so you can actually make your own right in the shop.
If you just love a good craft beer they've got over 300 in bottles and another 20 on draft for growlers. The tap wall is constantly updated with incredible new beers and there is always a solid representation of local breweries.
But what sets Schoolhouse apart from other stores is the service experience you get the minute you walk in the door. These guys are as enthusiastic about their customers are they are about their beer and it shows in how they run their store. They spend time learning their customer's preferences and make recommendations that both cater to and challenge their palate. They'll gladly answer any questions about beer styles, brewing techniques, home brew recipes, and, in one case, local real estate! And they know their stuff - they've yet to steer me wrong on anything I've asked of them.
Bottom line is if you like quality beer and quality people, you'll absolutely love Schoolhouse Beer and Brewing. These guys actually make going to "school" an experience to...
Read moreMy wife and I decided to go here while on our vacation and came from Canton. We love visiting different breweries as trying new beers. With that being said, we loved the beers we tried and the music was fantastic; however, we did not see the same for bartenders friendliness. As soon as we walked in the door about 130, we noticed we were the only customers there. The female bartender never greeted us nor did what I would say were the 2 owners who were on their laptops sitting at a table. That was our first clue! We sat at the bar and the bartender had very little enthusiasm and selling skills. My wife and I asked if we could get a sample and told her it was our first time there. She provided a sample and we ended up ordering several beers. One of the suspected male owners went to the bar and began tending to another male who had entered. I presume a friend. He never said anything to us while making the flight for the other guy or look our way. Afterwards the male with the flight sat with the two. I just felt their was zero to little interaction with us from anyone in there. I can understand this happening when they have a crowd, but not when it’s just a couple...
