Came here with 4 other people on a Saturday night. We were greeted when we came through the door, and shown a QR code with the menu (also informed the QR code would be on our table). A band was setting up across the patio. We sat down and waited a very long time for someone to come and take our orders.
Once we finally placed our orders, the drinks came out pretty quickly. We then didn't see our server for a really long time, she didn't really check in on us, and we had to sit around and wait much longer than preferred before we finally saw her and we asked for our checks.
It was at this point that we were informed that we would each be charged an additional $5 on our tabs as a "cover" since there was live music that night.
First of all, who charges their guests for live music?
Secondly, this was the very first time anybody had informed us about this charge.
We informed our server that at no point that night had anyone mentioned this fee to us, and she said we should have been told at the door. We again reiterated that this was the first we were hearing about this spontaneous charge. She still refused to waive it, since the band had been playing for around 45 minutes or so. It apparently didn't matter that we'd gotten there BEFORE the band even started playing. There was absolutely no room for debate in our server's mind, since it wasn't her job to inform us. There was lots of finger-pointing and blame shifting, lots of "this is our policy, sorry."
Overall I am extremely upset that I was charged $15 for one bottom-shelf gin & tonic. If I had known my tab would be increased by 50% for simply sitting at a table, I would not have come to the bar in the...
Read moreIf you're looking for a place with a cozy backyard atmosphere, live music, and a decent sangria, The Third Door might be worth a visit. I stopped by on July fourth, and while the overall experience landed at a three-star rating, there were some highlights and drawbacks to note.
First things first, keep in mind that The Third Door only serves alcohol. However, they've cleverly arranged for a separate food vendor outside, so you won't go hungry while enjoying your drinks. Speaking of which, their sangria was quite enjoyable and hit the spot nicely.
Most seating options are outside, allowing you to soak up the sun and enjoy the fresh air. The presence of a stage out for live music adds to the relaxed and casual vibe, giving you the feeling of being at a backyard gathering.
Now, let's discuss the service, which unfortunately fell short of expectations. Our server seemed to vanish into thin air after the initial interaction, leaving us feeling somewhat neglected. I hope it was due to the holiday schedule and not a regular occurrence.
On a positive note, if luck is on your side, you might score a seat in the air-conditioned trailer, a welcome respite from the summer heat. It's a cool and unique feature that adds to the experience.
In summary, if you're in the neighborhood and looking for a laid-back spot with outdoor seating, live music, and a tasty sangria, The Third Door could be a decent option. Just be aware that the service can be hit-or-miss. Stop by for a cold drink, enjoy the backyard vibes, and keep your fingers crossed for a seat in the air-conditioned...
Read moreThis speakeasy-style bar was amazing and made me feel like I was stepping into another era. Though its entrance is discreet, it’s easy to find—just head to the back, and you’ll discover a world of dim lighting, vintage décor, and a warm, intimate atmosphere.
The cocktail menu is a standout, featuring a mix of expertly crafted classics and inventive house creations. I ordered The Last Word, a gin-based cocktail that relies on the perfect balance of herbal, citrus, and sweet notes. What made it even more impressive was that they make their own Chartreuse in-house—a rare and remarkable touch that showcases their dedication to quality and craft.
One of the things that impressed me most was their thoughtful selection of tequilas, including Fortaleza. It’s rare to find a bar that goes beyond the over-marketed brands and instead highlights high-quality, traditionally made tequilas. Knowing that The Third Door has done their research and avoids supporting tequilas tied to harmful agricultural practices makes me appreciate their commitment even more.
The ambiance is further elevated by soft jazz or a thoughtfully curated playlist, making it an ideal spot for a romantic date or a refined night out with friends. Service is impeccable—attentive, knowledgeable, and always ready with a recommendation.
If you're looking for a bar with charm, character, and a well-curated selection of spirits, The Third Door is a must-visit. Just follow the path to the back, and let the...
